OK, first things first:

MC Shift tried. Has to be one of these for me. The auto is good, but the MC Shift just felt a shed load more interactive and responsive. And had the edge on sound too.
...
Fail!

…
I also don't like the Astro wheels …
Fail!

And now the good bit (excl. the length of this post)...I just collected this! :D

It's the HR Owen car. Gearbox aside, the rest of the spec grabbed me - it's all but perfect. I then started to convince myself that not having any clutch replacement costs and having something a bit more stealthy when needed (neighbours, MrsMurph) may well outweigh my gearbox preference (my opinion remains that the MC Shift is a sharper drive, even if by only a little bit having had more of a play in this).

It's Grigio Alfieri - the first GT (an S) I went to see was this colour and I loved it then as I do now. It picks up surrounding colours as could be seen from the HRO photos and also these quickly grabbed photos. It definitely doesn't look lilac (unless sat next to a pink car)!

The carbon on the exterior goes really well with the colour. Which is fortunate as there's plenty of it including the "diffuser", sills, front "splitter" and the exhaust shrouds. I like the carbon packs on GTs - the cars look a bit more aggressive with them, slightly less grown up which is what I was after :)

Astros - hated them on the black car I almost bought, thinking they looked too small. These aren't black but anthracite which might help, but I suspect it's the body colour that makes the biggest difference. I think they look great and won't be needing to change them for Neptunes.

Inside there's plenty more carbon and lots of alcantara. The interior really feels a good couple of notches above any other I've sat in and really sealed it for me. The GT has a lovely cabin anyway, and the colour combination of this one along with the soft touch of the alcantara make it a special place to sit.

The drive home was a good one to get used to the car and play with the 'box. I tended to find myself using a gear lower (numerically) than I probably would in an old school manual...not sure whether it was psychological but the shift seemed to be sharper that way (possibly the gearing of the auto at play?). Having a traditional auto made the initial leg of the journey through London a breeze, though kick down on cold Pirellis is to be avoided...(I'll blame buses and white vans :)).

The infotainment is clumsy, but to be honest not as horrendous as I'd set myself up for. The satnav got me home just fine, taking a sensible route. Will just have to get used to noting down the street I need as well as the postcode. Key locations I've simply stored and set up voice tags for (now I just need to learn how to use them!).

The stereo sounds good to my ears. Quality wise it's up there with the premium audio I had in my Aston though doesn't go quite as loud (not a problem for me). The speed that files are copied to the Jukebox is tragic (about 1Gb per hour for the first lot I've put up), but I'm regarding that as a one time hit. Having read up on the system I sorted out the naming of files to suit what I would use most when looking for music to play and it seems to work nicely. To be honest though I'll probably continue to listen to Talksport 90% of the time :)

One thing I neglected to test when picking the car up, and should have with hindsight, is the memory setting for the driver's seat (comfort seats only have this on the driver's side, don't they?). I cannot make this work at all! The seat moves fully, the passenger mirror dips on reverse to the position I set, the steering wheel gets out of the way when I open the door and returns to the last position used when I start up/put the key in, but the memory buttons do nothing.

Also, the driver's seat doesn't whirr forwards when I tilt the seat back forwards, so I suspect there's a fault in the seat somewhere....? (Passenger seat does this OK). This'll be slightly annoying to have to take the car in for, but other than that it's bloody fantastic :D

MrsMurph loves it too, as does MiniMurph #1 (#2 being too young to have an opinion).

More playing tomorrow, including careful testing of whether it will go up my drive/in my garage! Meanwhile some quick thanks to Rhys at HR Owen who has been great to deal with.

I'd also like to thank Ross at Colchester Maserati - he worked hard trying to source me an MC Shift and found a couple more this week, though they were black....(if an MC Shift existed with the rest of the spec the same as my car I'd jump at it! But I don't believe it does). If anyone's looking for cars these guys are very much worth a call.

And finally thanks for the help received on here, especially Stuart and Dicky.

Congratulations, what a delight that looks and you sounds smitten - rightly so!
Lots to read on here and I'm just switching off for the night but the seat memory function can be a bit temperamental. And use the search function on here for seat reset and that should sort out for the fore & aft on tilt. Oh, and have a good read of the handbook - it's long but very thorough - enjoy!

Ta :)

Just been out to try the reset procedures but no dice. Will try again in the morning, and possibly try the full battery reset thing.

Just stunning.....the colour, the wheels, the face lift car.............I love the Astro wheel a and apart from the Stradle wheels they would be my choice over all the wheels in the range...Lovely....

Just realised this is the car I posted up a number of weeks ago saying it was perfect....You lucky man.

Glad someone bought it ...... they dropped the price a couple of weeks ago as well.......

Agree with you on the interior...Something very special about that black leather and alcantara with the white stitching......It caught my eye as well....

Lowered 1 inch and on spacers, this would look UNREAL

Half agree - spacers tend to close the gap a lot anyway and lowering it can, I'm told, stuff the handling.

Really goes look good. You've made me wonder about getting my chrome window trims wrapped in a darker colour.

Black window surround.....Do it.....looks so much better than the chrome.

Rather fancy that when I get mine. Any idea of cost?

Do it Adam.....the black window surround looks so much better than the chrome....

I was quoted £110 to get the window surround wrapped on my 6 series.

I think chrome surrounds generally look more "svelte", with the darker ones looking more "sporting"/"aggressive". My Aston had chrome surrounds and looked great with them....but this is definitely what I was after in my next car. I also think the dark details make the car look a lot smaller than it is - it's quite a bit longer (about a foot/30cm) than my RS4 Avant (though to be fair has about 10x the leg room in the rear!) which surprised my other half.

Enjoy the car. Yep, RS4 rear legroom (B7 and B8) is poor as the supersports seats eat what little space there is.
