I swear these cars like a lot of other brands are made in order to generate costly labor intensive repairs for small parts like bushes and consumables etc... I understand making but surely it is a very negative experience for the customer. Like Maserati give a **** eh?

So heres a qusstion for you all :)

"Carpark anxiety"

New to this 'level' of car - what are your thoughts on 1. - Leaving the car at heathrow drop and ride service for a long weekend business trip, 2. (from thinking of the impeding 1) Thoughts in general of parking the car at say tescos when shopping, multistorey when at cinema etc - do these things get keyed? targeted?

I try to avoid leaving in with the public but at the end of the day it's a car and will inevitably get the odd parking ding. Multi-storey unless they are a decent size are challenging.

Heathrow business parking should be fine but I use a limo service as it saves me so much time and effort despite being able to claim for miles.

People respond to certain cars differently, I used to love driving my defender because of the way I was treated on the road, however when it comes to parking some people are just oblivious (aka not petrol heads) and swing open their doors.. it's all about luck, although I'd never take my 'weekend car' to a supermarket..

Took mine to Asda once and I was that paranoid I dropped the wife at the doors, drove to the far end and reversed in and looked for her coming out.....lol..

Mind when we did the trip to Whitby we all parked in a public car park and was fine....

Its a big car...even if people respect it it will fill a bay with little room for you and others.

I leave mine all over the place or used to and was on pins, its more the fact its a big car and takes up the space and thus people open their doors and its ding time.... no matter where you park someone will park next to you !!!!

Don't. Seriously it is not worth it.

Whilst us car people know that it is a nice car and is someone pride and joy my wife won't.

She can't tell the difference between a crapped out focus and mine. So expect her to park next to it and the door to swing out unintentionally as she is taking out the car seat/pram/shopping.

This is how I think of it. Always park with caution and with the worst case scenario in mind.

My general rule with parking is never park next to 4x4's, people carriers or cars that look like they are not looked after.

A lot of 4x4 owners (round here at least) don't care what's next to them and open the door as if nothing is next to them.
People carriers generally have children who do the same.
And the same with those who who don't give a stuff about their car.

I had one space at work which was perfect, it had kerbed sections with grass and trees in on either side so no one could park next to you. I am the 1st one into work so always claimed it. Until a few months ago in the really hot weather!!...............Trees, birds, bird ****, roof, bonnet, baked!!! it took me 3 sessions of soft scratch remover and polish to finally get rid of the acid etched prints in my lacquer.
So I moved to my next favored spot, where they ran out of room for another parking space so made it an extra large bay. I would park right in the very corner so it gave me loads of room. Then others caught on and started parking within my big bay to give them a bigger birth.
Result dings in my off side!!.........And the ones behind the door cannot be got at by my dent man without drilling a hole!!

We go shopping and to other places in my wife's car and even then I park really far away and on an end bay as she has a very nice car
