New radiator woes

Can someone explain why there are two versions of radiator (part no. 181097) and why they have the same part number when they are totally different? My Gransport is a UK import to Australia. I sourced a new radiator because of gradually worsening coolant leak. I sourced a replacement radiator from Europe. Booked my car in to get the radiator replaced. Removed radiator ok. Opened box, to find the wrong radiator - I think the USA part. Even worse, a couple of the pipes had broken in transit! So had to purchase a new one from Sydney Maserati for $1100, which is twice as much as I paid for the imported part but hopefully it will be the right one and intact.

So part number alone is not sufficient. Must make sure it is for the right region of the planet too. And must open the box as soon as it arrives. Lesson learnt.

Car in in the workshop but when I go in tomorrow I will take a few snapshots.
However, here is a diagram showing the two:

Yeah.
And because of the different size of the front core, the radiator guy couldn't swap the new cores into my old radiator, which was his first thought when he discovered the new one was broken.
I might have some recourse from Paypal buyer protection for the broken radiator, maybe...

I guess there might have been some way of adapting the new radiator to fit, maybe without too much difficulty, I don't know. But not an option if its broke.

Went to the workshop to find out exactly what went wrong - turns out that I was sent the wrong part. I received part no. 220979 which is for Maserati granturismo & QTP even though I had clearly ordered part 181097! Therefore, even if it hadn't broken in transit, it would not have fitted anyway - it's too big. The plastic that's used for these radiators look incredibly brittle I must say. I think I'm justified in requesting a full refund.

Well there you go, I was pretty sure I never heard of a different rad in the 4200, just the 3200 one is totally different.
