Hi all, current issue of Motor magazine in Australia details new technology being developed called Graphene.
The article by the editor says " I've been reading about a new miracle material called Graphene currently in the thick of research. A sheet of interlocked, single layer carbon atoms, graphene is 1 million times thinner than a human hair, 200 times stronger than steel yet incredibly light, and the world's best conductor of electricity. Though it is early days it could revolutionise fast cars. Graphenes composites could replace carbon fibre and save up to 70 per cent structural weight.
It's been speculated graphene supercapacitors installed in a car's body panels, could replace heavy and expensive lithium-ion batteries in electric cars, slashing weight, charging faster and delivering greater range."
