So the real agenda is that, as I said, our 'big trip' plan is for New Zealand next spring. I haven't been in NZ for about 20 years, so recommendations are welcome. Nothing too sporty or LoTRy.

Does anyone in NZ want to lend me their ZF QPV for most of March 2024?

How mad would it be to buy a NZ ZF QPV unseen in February, put 3000-4000 km on it, and stick it in an auction at the end of March?

I suppose Insurance might be a problem?

So you'd buy a QP unseen a month before expecting it to perform without a hiccough for a 4K road trip around a country with little or no regional support for Maserati's?! (Phil is no longer there).

Given your previous experience with two QPs already, you're the biggest optimist on the planet (3rd time lucky),

Go for it! :)

When I was there insurance wasn't mandatory and as a result not expensive.
From what I hear the Dealer which is now Winger Maserati are not very good and no longer in the prestigious city center location in New Market.
Have you had a look on trademe.co.nz ?
Can't be any crazier than my trip last weekend buying a 27 year old Jaguar in Spain and driving it back from the Mediterranean to the Pays de Loire.
I lost my phone that has everything on it before I even caught my train to Paris and I didn't know what Ms French's mobile number was but I did it and it was like being back in the 80's absolutely loved it :)

Actually the cunning plan would be to get AA to supply a replacement if your QP broke down so you'd then have had the pleasure of a day or two in the QP before you then had something ordinary for the remainder of your trip.

Hmm, come to think of it, that's just about what 2 other intrepid SMers and I cunningly planned last year on the SM European beano. I rocked around most of the continent in a gutless Renault Clio (which was faultless) having seen the QP (which has had nothing but the finest treatment money can buy over the last 7 years of my ownership) give up the ghost!

Just make sure you use a good shipping company mine nearly fell out the back of the container when I went to NZ.

learning from my friend who ships from Japan every week, never use a container - virtually sure to be damaged.

Maybe @dickygrace should get into importing these....
Buy that, drive it round NZ, ship it back and you can’t go wrong.

Recommendations of what to do, anything, beautiful country. My highlights were Napier, Queenstown and the people, they are so friendly.

And they have a terrific National Anthem.

There are some lovely QPVs for sale in NZ.....

A 33,000-mile 2011 GT S in grey/cream for £19,000!
Almost worth shipping it here.

I regularly look on TradeMe as we still have interests there.
Maserati is not an easy seller in a Country of 5 million people.
Shipping was very expensive when I came back hence why I left all my cars there.
May of changed but I doubt it and for me I want LHD.
I saw a 20 year old 4200 yesterday for €27,000.
