Thank you Andy for the warm welcome. In fact, I feel quite at home already.
I notice that Murray Volvo in Edinburgh have a 3200 for sale in amongst the Volvos on their website, so I'll have a look at that as well as the offering from PK Supercars - always nice to get a feel for the market.

Worth getting the reg and see if Phil at PK knows it's history.

I'm in Fife often, and as I work away, when I'm back I'm available as a second set of eyes if you require them.

Welcome along & good luck with your search, they're a great car. There aren't too many left and even less good ones.
I would be patient & take your time, a good one will come along sooner or later and a car known to members here would be ideal - keep us posted

Thanks LincsOSCA. It's taken a while to decide to bite the bullet but I've got to admit that it's an exciting time - just to open the garage door to see that trident looking at me. A known car would be preferable.
I'll keep that in mind Allan - a more experienced eye would be a great help.
I'll pass the reg no on to Phil and see what he says - 'v' reg

If the Murray car has over 60k on the clock check the history for chain replacement; if not done there's a big bill around the corner.

Hi and welcome... I also own a 3200 and she is without doubt a fantastic eye-catching beauty ! After reading your initial concerns they remind me of my own 4 years ago...the advice you've been given so far it's really relevant so take your time, I waited 2 1/2 years for what I felt was the right one.
A yearly budget/fighting fund is always a good idea though to be fair I personally haven't had any major dramas, prepare well and you should get few surprises .
If you have access to the relevant equipment and your mechanically minded ,oil/filters/plugs et cetera shouldn't be a real issue however for me personally ,the timing belt was a bridge too far luckily I have a specialist close by...remember time spent on research cost very little Good luck with your search ...any help needed just pm me

I would be careful of that one at the Volvo dealership. Their Lotus/Aston dealership had one for sale about 2 years ago I looked at.
Check its MOT history. Due an MOT today but done no miles since last year when it failed for brake pipes, incorrect colour indicators and suspension issues amongst other things.
Passed 2 weeks later so presumably work carried out and PK would be favourites to have done it but I bet it hasn't been serviced this year if it has done no miles.
Get PK to inspect at very least if you are half interested.
The PK car has a few more miles and manual but it is coming from a reputable source and £5k less before you start to haggle!

Thanks Bilko. Your thinking seems to be much like mine and the advice given so far has been sound and has been heeded. I have been casually browsing for a while but now is the time to look seriously. The offer of help is appreciated and you may well get a pm.

I'm pretty sure the Murray one isn't for me, Needamaser but I will look at it mainly to increase my knowledge. It seems overpriced for what it is before examining the history and I'll ask Phil at PK when I'm there having a look at the one they have.
