Thanks - great to meet you all!

Yes, looking at the petrol V6 for greater range for weekend trips (though I’m sure the 3.8 V8 flies!).
The V6 has got to be more efficient than the V8 Jaguar it will replace…

I drove a Ghibli V6 last weekend and really liked it, however the family would like more interior space hence looking at a QP.

Buying tips appreciated!

Just be aware that parking a QPVI must be something of a challenge. The Ghibli feels like a return to the old days of Alfas with the turning circle of a super tanker.

I very much like mine now. I took @conaero's advice when looking, and snagged my S. I can still imagine that the standard is pretty good.

I still think that Masers don't get the recognition they deserve, which is probably why I've been able to afford them.

And this I am not going to complain about. It's nice when people do call you out "Is that a Maserati" (people everywhere) or "Love your car' (random delivery drivers) or "What is that!?" (bloke at the local recycling depot as I was dropping some stuff off in my GT. Had to give him his tongue back)
But it's not about all of that. I love my car, I love what it does and the relationship we have. I also am rather fond of the community (with a few notable exceptions, @Felonious Crud ;) ) Makes me feel a way no other car (apart from the Alfas 20 years back, perhaps) do...

Hi All,
Newbie here looking for advice.
Have seen a nice looking 2016 V6 petrol QP for sale.

Anything specifically I should look out for / ask about or be aware of when going view?

Went to see a very smart Ghibli last week, which was great to drive but not spacious enough inside for what we need - hence now looking at the QP…

Many thanks
Nick, you have a pm.

I wonder if V8's require expensive 60k service that V6's have to go through?

Most cars have a big service and a small service. Given the V6 has a 12500 mile service interval, having a 60k service is a bit unlikely. 60k KM is oil / filter and plugs plus inspect. Hardly earth shattering. The biggest is the 75k mile service which is oil and filter, air and pollen filter and brake fluid. Plus inspect.

Services seem pretty well balanced to me

I believe they have belt&tensioner service at 60K?

if i'm not mistaken V6's are cambelt driven (not chain)

The petrol V6 is indeed chain driven, but has two auxiliary belts, service 4 said ‘replace aux belt’ and didn’t say which one, both looked OK, the garage changed the stretch belt.

The plugs are super easy to DIY, just use a torque wrench, and the pollen filter takes under a minute, unlike the Fiat 500 which takes forever and is ignored by workshops.

A transmission service is recommended by ZF at 60,000, but notby Maserati. That is quite expensive, parts and time consuming, as it’s all specific stuff.

Not finding the trans service too bad so far. The fluid is what stings most. The kit is pretty easy to get, and having watched the vid, most of the time seems to be taken heating the fluid.

If Maserati's use std ZF 8-speed then i believe it is a straight forward procedure to replace the g/box oil.
