'Newbie' Question No.3 - Becker navigation.

New to the GS and still getting used to the foibles.....

My GS didn't have the Navteq navigation discs, so I ordered them from Navteq, but on inserting the UK disc, the Becker then asked for the Becker 5-digit code, which I duly entered, to be followed by a message.. "function not available".

I then phoned Navteq to double-check I'd ordered the right disks (On-line Pro Version 4.0) and they said yes.

Radio, CD and CD changer functions all work. CD changer is loaded with music disks, and I put the UK navigation disk in the single CD slot in the Becker.

Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong? The Becker instructions aren't clear at all.

Thanks in advance,

Em.

Thanks Pete, Thanks Loz.

Loz, I have the user manual that came along with the car and it has a whole section on the navigation functions, so had assumed it was available with the correct disks?

The manual describes the model as the Becker Mono Sinto Online Pro?

Me too went through the hassle of checking www.mybecker.com made head nor tale of it , after a few hours of newbie frustration and hair pulling my Nav man started to look rather sexy on the windscreen , and knowing what a pain in the *** the 4200 one was that was it i was in love all over again with Navman

Ah yes of course. Becker, being German, only recognise counties they've invaded :D

(That may well be a time-limited post that I'll shortly delete:D)

when looking for a car, I was told to confirm if it had satnav, you should see a little module in the glove box, I had the Becker Pro which had the module for the satnav function, but recently upgraded mine to 9744 - I still have the module box if interested

I have a Becker Indianapolis pro in the AC it has SatNav Any good Becker dealer will be able to confirm the unit functions if you give them the serial No should be with the Code card if you don't have the two keys to pop it out of the dash. If you have no luck pm me the serial no and I'll find out.

Hmm, interesting Enzo. I don't recall anything in the glove-box other than the two release buttons?

Thanks Peter. I have the various codes / cards so this sounds like the next step.

Cheers, Em.

Miles,

I have the GranSport Becker satnav and CDs.

However, upon looking at the display and the fact that we are talking Maserati satnav, I decided to make no attempt whatsoever to install.

I figured that even the cheapest mobile phone satnav will do a better job.
