Not unexpected unfortunately, early Saturday morning, open road, 48 in a 40, camera van, fair cop.
Have been deliberating whether I might have just been within allowances with speedo error, but no, and in the Pinin of all things!
It's been over 5 years since last caught, and things have moved on. Nice link to the evidence, full video, stills, and calibration certificate of the equipment.
Will be another speed awareness course as a refresher I guess.

Maybe you can get speed awareness online these days. Forza or Project CARS?

I overtook a cyclist on a road between 2 villages , absolutely no need for it to be 40mph

I gave him a wide berth but a car coming the other way was getting close so I sped up to get well past him before pulling in

The car coming the other way flashed the lights and I thought , what , you were still a fair way off when I was back on the left

He wasn't saying **** , he was saying camera van

It's 2 weeks on Thursday

As usual the van is sited where 48 in a 40 is fairly likely but nowhere near as dangerous as 38 in a 30 in either of the villages.

The road where I was zapped, when I first started driving, used to be unrestricted 60mph, now a 40.
It's not a road I frequently use these days and I have never seen a camera van in that location before too.

I got done by a camera at traffic lights in Stretford a few weeks ago. 36 in a 30. 2yrs, 11, months and 12 days since I last got done so not eligible for speed awareness as it has to be more than 3 years since you last went on one.

Is that by the same police force or different ones?

They are online via Zoom at the moment. I was due a course in early April but it was cancelled obviously. Finished up doing it in July online.

My mate must have got lucky, he did two in the same month last year. One in Ashford, one in Bromley.
Both in Kent. Does Bromley come under the Met now?

Have you double checked to determine if the Camera van was parked on the public highway? Reason I ask is I used to drive through a village on the way to work a few years back and they used to catch literally hundreds of speeding cars a week. That is until someone spotted that the Camera van was parked on private verge next to a field gate which belonged to the Farmer. Not on the public highway. As a result all speeding fines had to be cancelled because the Police operating the van were acting unlawfully. Always worth checking to be sure...

Yea I got stitched too, 34 in a 30 limit, I should know better..
The usual, another 3 points
What I wasn't expecting was the hugely expensive increase in insurance premiums as a result!
Be carful out there

It looks like it will be considered public highway but might he worth a double check with the house owner near the site.

On my way back from work from Newcastle to Leeds speed camera detector thing went off and I saw a police camera van actually in a field, that legal? This was 2010 or so, A14, after M'boro going south...
