Noisy exhausts - watch out!

An article in a local magazine has asked vigilant residents to make a note of registration numbers of cars that have noisy exhausts - these can then be handed to the police who will check if the insurers of the cars have been notified of exhaust modifications, which will no doubt catch out a few whose insurances policies will be invalidated.

If it catches on nationwide, there maybe a few on here interested in this.....:baffle:

Have them as well as we are 100 yards from beach, luckily they are usually done by the time they get to us - but sometimes there are like 50/60 of them on a weekend. I usually go out with spade and fling it in farmers field, cows dont seem to mind!!!

They do that in Dunchurch already, plus the speeding lot who take pics in the early mornings

At the moment apparently you just get a polite warning letter from the police, the next time your in court!

From my insurance experience, the plod can't find out specific information unless prosecuting due to data protection.
So the only info they're allowed to have is cover (yes or no) and type of cover.
Policy specifics do not come into it.

However, I think if the police are interested (unlikely) they would issue a seven day wonder and ask for a db test on the exhaust.

You just roll around in town and not be to much of a tw*t..on the open road you can still do what ever you like just like we did in the 1970's...you wouldn't believe what we go up too!

Nowadays if you get caught though your history, criminal record, no more cheap insurance, your family and names are on the credit registry etc...etc.

It's just not worth it..

My thinking is a supercar (let's include Maseratis in that category) are generally noisier and so wouldn't be seen as anti-social - it's probably more the young lads in Fiestas, Corsas etc. that are obviously modified that are more like to be targeted.
