I remember some time back there was a post about doing the NC500. Something I fancied doing this year around late September early October when the shed draggers, camper vans and midges have departed. I assume 3-4 days with hotels overnight. Any SM members interested.

Weather wise, October can be pushing it, mid to late sept a good time to visit the highlands. To do it justice and get the best out of it, 4 days my advice. Think Phil was sorting it for April........he has left it a bit tight ;)

Was thinking sometime in the last 2 weeks of September would be best. I'm away the first 2 weeks of September. Thursday/ Friday to Monday /Tuesday maybe.

If serious, then booking lodges/hotels/B&Bs early advisable. Sept also a fav time for hill walkers to get "last" walk in before weather turns.
Edit: something a bit different for part if the journey maybe? http://www.sleeperzzz.com

I like that. Will see how thread goes and see how many members interested. I know accommodation on route needs to be sorted asap. Any tips help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Would love to, but Mrs Catman would rather like to go to Mexico while my kitchen is re-fitted.

I can't really say I blame her.

Clients of mine and get good reviews.
Something a bit different as well. http://thepoorhouse.co.uk/
Stayed there and as long as you don't mind all sleeping in the same room and no phone signal the hosts welcome and stunning location makes up for it.

If any of you are golf-ists you will be passing within a stones throw of Dornoch. Royal Dornoch being "the" quintessential links course. Simply stunning late Autumn.

I did it in September 2015 and there is a post somewhere. I would say 3/4 days is fine if just driving but pushing it if you want to do much else.

Yes Panic I was organising but so many events got in the way in April, I might try to sort something for September if there is any uptake?
