Oil leak or coolant leak?

I noticed a liquid substance when I was under the car, on the underside of the coolant pump. The coolant looks like it was mixed between red and yellow, but it also looks like oil. I can't seem to tell. Anyone have any idea what and where this leak may come from? Thanks

Get it looked at pronto as I believe the GT shares the same engine as the earlier 4200 which have a combined water and oil pump.

failure will total the motor.

I'm looking at the parts catalogue. The coolant pump and oil pump do not look joint, each have their individual pump, nor are they joint by the same shaft.

Oil level is fine. Coolant was at minimum couple of months back, which I topped off then. After topping coolant, I went under to inspect the car and I found what you see in the pictures. First instinct was that the o ring gasket for the water pump needs replacing (part number 223406). I tightened the screws (231619) around the water pump pulley, one or two of these screws were loose. It's been at least 1.5 months, coolant level is fine. Went back under the vehicle recently, leak is still there. This is a very slow leak, I'm guessing coolant? The issue with that theory is the colour of the leak, that does not look like coolant.

after tightening and fixing what may be a leak, degrease the whole area and check again later, you'll see clearer where it comes from. Spray on degreasers (Sonax) a paintbrush and some warm, soapy water to rinse it off works great. Avoid high pressure water.

Its now actually a separate belt driven pump and not the combined unit that was on the dry sump 4200's.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn this too.

You basically have 2 aux belts, one does the services and there is a separate stretch belt that runs the water pump only.

I suggest you also look at what is above the pump for the source of the leak and check the pipes. The fluid could also be getting blown inwards from the front of the car by the airflow during driving so look at the rads in front of it.

When I was at Maserati I changed many power steering pumps but never a water pump.
The only oil water pump unit I have changed was my own.
I still believe the dry sumped engine to be a jewel but if that pump fails it's a major.
My advice for you guys not doing the miles is to get under and check it for weeping or leakage before getting her out after slumbering.
