One year in!

Today marks my first anniversary of Maserati ownership.

I can still remember the first moments of driving off in my 4200, and giving it a bit of welly whilst going down the slip road onto the M6 and promptly learning that these cars need to be treated with a bit of respect. Especially on cold damp roads with cold tyres!

I fulfilled a lifelong ambition of owning a Maserati, and have loved seeing it every time I went into the garage, and always look back when I've parked up.

Obviously there have been some downsides, along with it's current spell at Giallo, I needed a new radiator, I've had the collapsed cats, and then having the bodge job on them re-done.
My insurance company going bust 8 months into ownership (still waiting for the refund of the outstanding premium).

However, the minus points are far outweighed by the positives. Which I'll list in no particular order:

People complimenting me on how beautiful the car is.
People complimenting me on the sound of the car (not my neighbours though).
People complimenting me on the colour (I don't think they were all Jewish).
How the car makes you feel.
The grin you have when driving her.
Driving to my wedding in her and her being part of the day (the car not Alex).
Driving round the GP Circuit at Brands Hatch.
Having a Maserati at a Maserati meet rather than an Alfa.
Meeting new friends because I own a Maserati.
Getting drunk with you lot at the Christmas bash.

I could go on. But one year in I can safely say buying a Maserati is one of the best things I've ever done.

Here's the first pic I ever took of her.

Wow that's flown by Mark. I remember prior to your ownership everyone on the forum taking the P*** over ("He keeps saying he's going to buy a Maserati for months now... it'll never happen!) and i echo everything you've said over ownership. I've had mine just over 10 months now, looking forward to bringing it out of winter storage at the end of March, up to now loving the ownership experience.

Can't believe it was a year ago that Birdcage was giving you grief!

Where is Birdcage BTW, he's been quiet? ;-)

Well done Mark.

I feel the pain you have had and to be honest if I had been that unlucky with Masser #1 I would unlikely have bought my second and third.

Fingers crossed for a year of fun Maser ownership for you this 2017.

I had an end float issue with Maserati # 1 (as did Matt I believe?) and I'm still here and loving everything minute!

Yep, dark days, I have tried to remove that nightmare from my memory.

Got told the bad news right before Xmas!

Our legal team have a tradition of sending me an amusing bill for their supposed efforts over the year, invariably timed to arrive in the last post before Christmas.

It seems like you've had that car for more than a year Geoff! How time flies...

6 is impressive! I don't know what to go for next as my model was the last manual car they made and I want to stick with a manual???

Then you are **** out of luck if you want to go newer. You could always upgrade and get a nice manual 3200.

mc shift of course, i hate automatics, I'm always a massive fan of a proper manual, but i love my car and if they did a manual, id have mc shift over it for sure.

Maserati is similar to Alfa ownership, if you don't go through the pain you can't experience the full joy, it's a a love affair !

On my 17th! I tend to have 2 or 3 at any one time and on average, keep each for about 18 months or so. The QP GTS I've had for 15 months, the MCV for about 9 months so far.

But I've probably stalled for the moment as I'm not a fan of the current range (though may eventually try a Levante when they install the petrol engine). And I've not bought a GT as it's just too big for what it's trying to be. I keep trying to talk myself into a Strad, but the size issue crops up and holds me back again. But maybe one day.
