Couldn't believe it when I saw this yesterday, Porsche Boxster, few extras, bit of interest, £70k. There's a lot of folk out there with more money than sense.

Yeah....great to see people getting shafted.....but DG, if you went in as a straight buyer, 10-15% off?

It was Porsche Chester, if you were a straight cash buyer you'd get something off, but £70k for a Boxster, then it's worth £25k after 3 years.

Prices for virtually all new cars are creeping up as the perceived recovery happens. I almost spluttered my coffee when I looked at the list prices on lotus.

That's what I do Frank. I'm just waiting for the first ex-lease Ghibli diesels to get to 3 years old. Big savings to be had.

And yesterday it was repoted that new car sales in the UK are going up and up. Attractive finance packages (though apparently not from Porsche!) must be behind a lot of that and surely must be dampening prices of used (or nearly new) cars.

Crazy........its hard to fathom...then again, people have held off changing a car for an extra year/2yrs maybe so pent up demand...plus fleet sales must make a big impact on overall numbers, due to cheap finance....esp from Porsche!!!!!!....;)

Just looked on the Fiat website: Fiat 500 Pop 1.2. £1,250 deposit plus £129 per month for three years plus final balloon etc. Interest fixed at 3.37%. No wonder the new car business is booming!

Lots of great deals out there......car ownership in many ways has not been cheaper....................................but high end stuff...............loosing 50K value over 3 yrs.....hard to justify sometimes, but fortunately for us, quite a few do!

Happy to let someone else spec a car well and take the depreciation hit. So long as they look after it well for me in its first few years of life then I'm happy.

I bought Mrs Conaero one on the same deal nearly 3 years ago. About a grand down, £36x£129 then a balloon that end of just under £4K, same Fiat 500 1.2 Pop.

I did add some shiney bits to it (naturally) like chrome front and rear bumper inserts, key casing and chrome wing mirror covers for about another £100.

Its done about 15k miles in the 3 years, and has had a rear main oil seal (warranty) and a couple of breather pipes.

Not bad little car.

But you're not losing £50k. You're paying £50k for the pleasure of ownership for 3 years ;)

.....well in my case....£2.5K pa for the pleasure is plenty......;)

No real argument from me :) Was mentally totting up what the last year of Maser ownership has cost me (sans fuel, tax and insurance)
Heater matrix: £600
Wiper assembly: £100
Discs and pads: £310
Rear tyres: £310
MOT: £60

£1470 I reckon.
Couple of k depreciation, I suppose. Ballpark £3.5k

Roughly £70 a week. £10 a day. BARGAIN :D

Hmmm...
Clutch; F1 pump; Manifold; Oil leaks; 6 Tyres (I think my geo has always been off, and driving like a loon doesn't help); Getting a decent audio system; Door locks; Wheel colour; Door mirror; Wind deflector (you really don't want to know how much that bit of plastic & gauze costs - it's eye watering); Full detailing

I think I'm a bit over £20 a day. Bargain!

Oh, depreciation...maybe I can write that off if the economy keeps improving?

There's no putting a price on the enjoyment I get out of mine. Like most on here, I do it because I love doing it and long may it continue.
