Has anyone had one of these car wraps? I have some scratches on mine, the debate is whether I get Chips away to dirt out the problems, get the car painted, or get it 'wrapped'. Would come any suggestions, constructive if possible.... ??
Cheers

I have the front of the Tuscan done. First thing I did having had it on the last Chim and it worked well. If you don't mind a witness line on the car. Certainly stops the stone chip peppering.

I'm not a fan of wraps to be honest...A friend had a 911 and when they took the wrap off he need some paint work done on it anyway.....Plus another friend had to have a full detail when he took the wrap off his M3 CSL.......I would stay away...But thats just my thoughts.

TVR paint is the hardest substance in the know universe. The GT has only ever done 20mph by the look of the front but I may wrap it for next years Italy trip.

I don't understand wraps, unless you want to change the look of parts of your car.

They never look as good as well detailed paint, so effectively you make your car look worse so it'll look better when you want to get rid of it?

Don't get it, but that's just me!

I'm thinking of a full respray. What would be a good price for a wrap and a respray?

Wraps have come on in leaps and bounds technically and are far better than they used to be. The choice of material is now huge. Unfortunately their ease of application means there are very many muppets out there that have set themselves up as wrappers. The material itself is quite cheap, as are the tools to fit it, a tempting combination for the chancer.

In just the same way as there are good detailers and bad detailers, the same applies her, so do your homework and work on proven recommendation. It's down to training and experience. The car has to be prepped. To wrap a car correctly involves a certain amount of dismantling and the time to wrap a car is the deal breaker. If anyone tells you a car can be wrapped in a day then walk away.

Expectation is also important. A colour change wrap will not hide the colour of the car in the engine bay nor in any other exposed none body areas.

A good wrap will be a couple of grand or more, so do yourself a favour and get any dents sorted beforehand, as they'll show and will even be exaggerated depending on the wrap colour.

As for not being able to polish a wrap, this is nonsense. It takes polish very well, so you can achieve just the same surface sheen as you would with a painted surface, assuming the polish is applied correctly.

If there's any one rule of thumb before choosing your wrapper, remember the guy is going to be all over your car with a scalpel.

Wrapped my old atom in carbon and was very pleased with the result but I would never wrap a normal bodied car! Why cover up the paint.....if it's the colour you wanted???

I'd never buy a wrapped car.....I'd wanna know what's the state of what's underneath!

Hmmm

With this improved weather, and how much I'm loving the 4200 that a full re-spray may well be on the cards at some point.

Need to make sure the mechanicals are sorted first though.

I need a respray on the 159 every 6months or so as the paint is soooo soft its shocking. Ive looked into wraps but decided against it. But I have decided to have the Italian carabinieri livery instead as one it looks sexy and two the livery is placed in such away it takes the stone chips!

Many thanks for all the replies, I think I will be looking at a full repeat as I love the colour on mine. I was just looking at options, the wrap would have been permanent so taking it off again would not have been an option. With regards to the stone chip option, the bonnet really does get peppered as does the front of the car. Anyone had the stone chip guard, doesmitmcreate a line on the car ?
Thanks again for all the replies.
Now, as it is such a beautiful day, I am off to clean my Italian beauties, no doubt there will be scratches from kind members of the public.

Regards
Stuart
