Have bought myself a set of hub caps from Italy, the guy is asking me for almost the value of the hubs to mail them to UK, any suggestions about best way to get them to mainland GB...not to N Ireland

Cheers,

P

PS These for for the Aurelia project car.....:)

Where in Italy? If its far enough north I may make a detour later this week, as I'm loose on the continent with nowhere in particular to go for a few days and the beautiful alps between me and northern Italy so any excuse would be welcome...but only back in the UK next week. Oh, and I'm in a spyder, so not too much room, but should be able to squeeze them in.

Hi Chris......its in San bartolomeo al mare, IM, Italy...which is near Imperia on the Liguria coast....see map......

Bizarrely enough...they are for my Lancia Aurelia and he lives virtually on the Via Aurelia which runs from Rome to almost the French coast!!!

It appears to be a good bit out of your way....but no worries if its too much grief...they fit inside each other like plates and shouldn't take up too much space at all!

Now, I wouldn't call that out of the way...my thought was to go over the hills to Cueno then potter around that area for a while then over the hills again to Nice to meet up with an old work buddy. I think a side trip to the Italian coast would take good care of the "pottering around" part very nicely. I'll pm my email & phone number, Frank.

trying to wear her out, the poor thing. But she keeps egging me on for more, so I can't really resist.

This is what I bought the car for, cruising round the south of France / north of Italy / alps in summer. I'm lucky this year in that I have some spare time so early and even though I like her nice & shiny, I prefer a bug-splatted front end any day...as long as the windscreen is clean and the tank is full.

What a lovely story - the power of the forum, eh?

They had better fit.

For the cost of the petrol expended in collecting them you could get a tool made up to reproduce them :)

Chris....you have a pm...had to go down to a small village 6 miles away to meet with a guy who will do the body work on the Lancia, hoping to tie the deal up by next week!

It looks as if I will have to clean each individual bug off the front of your Spyder as recompense!

Now that's a kind offer...but each one has a fond memory of a kilometre well spent, so I'll enjoy wiping them off as much as I enjoyed putting them there.
: )

Now, I must get some sleep, a long day working tomorrow...then back to the fun the day after.
