Parking sensor repair

A lady in a Discovery backed into the rear bumper of my parked GranTurismo yesterday (I was sitting in it at the time) - only a touch but it's a 2ish ton vehicle so I was worried. I was particularly unimpressed when she said “I knew I shouldnt have tried that when my sensors are out of order†- however, held my tongue, swapped details and told her not to let it ruin her day.

Anyway no real damage except one of the parking sensors has been popped inside the rear bumper, and some surrounding scratches which should polish out.

This is the first such thing I've had to deal with since getting the GT, where should I be taking it for what is hopefully a pretty small job (at her cost obviously). Car is near on 10 years old so no need for main dealer (unless no other options) but equally driving to Kent from Berkhamsted isn't really on the cards.

Suggestions appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the damage I hope it wasn’t this lady and this discovery - which also happened in Berko and cost £4600 to fix my Jag XJ!!

As for the repairer, I have used Custom Exotics in Harlow, still a bit of a treck but they are very good and not silly expensive either.

I am only at Boxmoor and often in Berko in the GTS

Yes - Grey - no front plate - driven like a hooligan !
What colour is yours, I have seen another grey one and a black one around.

One of my sensors got knocked out when I had a GT. The main dealer wanted something silly like £500. Auto Audio did mine for circa £100 from recollection. Bumper needs to be removed and it needs to be bonded back into the bumper. Any Bodyshop should be able to help.

I just replaced one of the rear sensors in my QP and thanks to some rusted bolts it took me about 6 hours. The rear bumper needs to come off. Normally it should be doable in about 3 hrs but it takes time, so the lady will have to pay!

Mines the black GTS w the AV08 plate. The other grey one I have seen locally is the 2017 facelift, driven by a lady

Yes but really prefer to find one local-ish (basically North West of London) that has actual experience with Maserati’s and is a known quantity to forum members. I don’t fancy them “learning by doing” on mine.

Ok. Well auto audio is in Acton and did mine whilst I waited. They are used to maseratis and have all sorts of exotica in there at any one time.

Would also recommend Christian Lewis but they are in Bedford so perhaps a bit further than you wanted to travel. Ed Blasi is the man to speak to.

McGrath came back this morning with a pleasant enough email but “unfortunately we do not look after the Granturismo models”

They also suggested “if it is similar to other models” that I might have to replace all 4 sensors and repaint them, so I’m now thinking HR Owen. I’ll drop Nareman at Nuvola a note first in case he has other ideas
