Yes I saw this yesterday, its very sad but we have to assume the driver was at fault. I have very little sympathy for the driver but I do for Paul Walker as he was clearly not in the wrong.

There is a video on YouTube of moments after the crash with the car in two and on fire that I will leave to your discretion if you wish to view it or not..

Seen it, speed is what done it, lost control and went into a tree....a big tree and then started the fire

Horrible accident and terribly sad. Trees are awful things to hit. They give no ground to anything.

Very sad indeed. Unfortunately it appears it might have been a tree in conjunction with a raised gas main.

Mrs Z mentioned this yesterday. Fact of life (or death in this case) fast car and big tree there is only ever one winner.

RIP : Paul

Recent reports point in the direction that a mechanical failure was the reason for, or at least a contributing factor to, the crash. According to the workshop where the car was stored and maintained, it suffered from a leakage in the steering system.

This story quickly grows even worse:

Paul Walker's 15-year old daughter and Roger Rodas' 8-year old son both witnessed the crash.

They were reportedly still alive when the car caught fire/exploded, debate now seems more focused on whether they were unconscious or not.

Both bodies burnt beyond recognition, dental records needed in order to confirm identities.

And the list goes on.

My condolences to his family, friends and fans.

As many has pointed out on various boards across the Internet, he may not have been the best actor out there - even though certainly far worse exists - but he seems to have been very good-natured and genuine person. His enthusiasm for cars notwithstanding, he was a voluntary helper at natural disasters and animal rescues, he was involved with and even spearheaded many charity projects, he was a full-time father, he was never part of any sort of scandals (DUIs, drugs, brawls, etc) that more or less seem to be the norm rather than the exception in Hollywood these days.

The world is full of people doing good in order to become famous, but not equally so of people using their fame to do good.

I salute Paul Walker's memory for his contributions to the world, that even they're rather insignificant when taking the whole picture into account is still more than most of us manage. May he rest in peace.

Yes, very well said. I have to say that Paul's death has saddened me more than many other recent celebrity deaths. He seemed, and was reported as being, a genuinely nice grounded guy who so many loved and respected. I loved the F&F films for their humour, action and fun, and it is so sad that either there will be no more, or that he will be missing from future ones. I was fortunate enough to see a pre-release version of Hours recently. It provides a completely different perspective on Paul's talents as an actor - he is on screen for most of the film entirely on his own and holds your attention in a way that I believe not many actors could. Such a very tragic death, particularly as he was not the driver and a mechanical failure may have been the cause..............
