Phil say it is isn't so.
One doesn't put a roof rack on a GS!
What next a tow bar and a trailer?

I was moving house Bruce down country 550 kilometers so I had the rack and thought why not.
A bit like Top Gear I suppose but it did the job.

Why's that? I could tow with my bike quite legally. However, I can't think why I might want to do so.
Steve.

European Law states that all light passenger vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1998 require a type approved towbar tested to EC94/20 and towball with suitable D&S value. This is not retrospective and does not affect any vehicle registered before this date.

Fitment of a non type approved towbar on a vehicle registered on or after 1st August 1998 could result in prosecution and in the event of an accident the vehicles insurance could be invalidated.

So anything registered after 1/8/98 needs a type approved towbar, and approved to tow by the car manufacturer. Which in the case of the Maserati Coupe, is not approved by Maserati and they do not have pre-designed tow bar pick up points on the chassis for a tow bar.

Can you really imagine say a 2 tonne caravan hung on the back, and doing a hill start with the cambiocorsa gearbox!!!

Blimey. It's legal if Maserati say it's legal and illegal if Maserati say it's illegal.
I take the point about the chassis though. As for the CC hill start - mine's a manual and I wouldn't have it any other way. Gotta love a clutch with the life of a tyre at 10x the price!
Steve.

Slight use of the word 'could' though.

I 'could' be a millionaire. Maserati 'could' make an Alfieri.

Clever word 'could'
