Every day, something different.... This one is doing my canister.

The *** lighter works fine, so no loss of electrical connection, but I've tried three separate plug-in chargers for various Moans family telephones/Kindles and not one of them works!?!

Known problem? Specific make of charger known to work? Or do you have to buy a Maserati branded one, clad in nappa leather and embossed with a gilt crest, your s for £399.95? :)

There are different sizes on different cars so they are not quite a universal product. A lot of manufacturers know this so manufacture a size that fit the slightly bigger and slightly small holes. Some do not.

I was not aware of that! Never had any issues with compatibility before! So I need to search for Maserati compatible usb chargers... What fun!

I think you can buy a universal f4g lighter plug-in from Halfrauds or similar. I have one in the spyder with 2 USB ports so I can have a tw*t Nav and phone charger going at the same time.

We sell them in our stores and sometimes get one back "not fitting" or "not fit for purpose" as they like to call it now!

They can be a bit dodgy, especially the cheaper ones (chargers that is, not 4200s) but I've had similar problem with other cars.

I have one with an LED built in so I can verify it's getting power. Let's take a look on Saturday, weather permitting.

i have used a bunch of USB chargers and they all worked. what's the problem, they don't fit physically or they don't work electrically? USB chargers are not complicated so should not be a big issue

It is because they don't fit physically that they don't work electrically. On some cars the cigarette socket is slightly bigger than "standard" A small difference in size can cause the electrical contacts not to ........connect!

Have some chargers and three-way cigarette socket splitters here which don't work in the QP sockets. The plugs are narrower than the socket, work electrically when held into the socket, but when released simply jump out. They work just fine in a BMW or Porsche. I've found that the ultra low profile Belkin USB chargers work well and look good into the bargain.

I guess it must be a size issue... They all seem to fit - the spring things at the side hold them reasonably in place, but no power :(

Same problem here - solved with a bit of tape around the base of the connector to make it wider and thus a snug fit. All sorted and powered my iPhone Navigon from Wilts to Paris and back with no problem.
