Was going to get one of the above, veering towards the HTC one as the manchild bigs it up all the time.

I had noted in Driving last week a phone recommended as great value......a mere £99 for virtually the same performance and looks versus £500 for the above named. I had a contract phone for usual minutes/texts/data, which I never exceed, so I thought so*d that, Orange never valued my loyalty, I'll go freelance!

Its locked but can get an unlock code for £2, then a £20 SIM card for enough minutes per month for as long as I want as a one off payment........

Savings...Motorola bought £99, SIM £20 ( free £15 credit on it!), unlock £2 totals £107

HTC one at £25 a month over 24 mths = £600

Saving =£ 493 = an annual service!!

Not good value for me, Ben. With any of those after five minutes I've sunk, it crashed it, fallen off it or finished. Someones multiple of those things.

Try the middle ground. I use the new Google Nexus 5 (£299) and GiffGaff as a network where tariffs cost from £7.50 a month. The Nexus is every bit as good as any phone on the market and GiffGaff works well, particularly if you travel a great deal as I do.
