Is the Mach 1 the one that was woefully under powered? Something like 160bhp? Or am I getting it confused with another big engined Yank tank with woeful power (as there are many!).
It depends on the configuration:


I think the one in my pic is at least 240bhp, but it in those days it was more about the drama of 'muscle car' looks and wheelspin than outright performance, and in crude terms muscle = torque. I'm sure that Oneball can enlighten us.

Had some fun with a Transam 6.6 whilst in Saudi Arabia purely just to burn fuel which was so cheap then it seemed rude not too.
True story...post Smokey and the Bandit, my father came home with one of those, t-tops and all. My mother met him in the driveway and announced that she was pregnant (I was about 7 and to that point, an only child) and told him to take the car back wherever it came from. He backed the car out and disappeared for about two weeks...
