I can't say that I've had this problem. As Classico says there is long travel on the pedal but I've never had an issue with slowing down fast enough.

And on the noise an x pipe makes a massive difference.

Similarly never had any braking problems when I had a 4.2. To be honest I don't understand some of the 'near slating' that the 4.2 gets on here from time to time. Its quite a different car to the 4.7, but you get realistically as give or take as much power as is practical on the open roads, the looks (which frankly still remain stunning)...and for a slab of cash less than a 4.7. My 4.2 never let me down - be that with brakes or anything else - and despite having switched, I remember it fondly as an ownership experience and lovely car to own.

The 4200 used to have the same 'poor mans choice' when compared to the GS...all I can say is that it was all hype; my GS is no better or worse than the two 4200s I have had , but the 4200 were more comfortable and less fragile.

Agree with this BigR.

Seems to be the view of some drivers in a 4.7 I've noticed.

Love my 4.2. And given the prices here, they're still expensive enough to be as exotic/rare on the road as the badge suggests.

Indeed, I drove both and was fortunate enough that my budget could stretch to a MCS but had it not, I would have had no hesitation in buying a 4.2. Of course, I may have been hankering after a 4.7 but then what's to say in a few months I won't be hankering after a Stradale?
The 4.2 for me represents great value for money, is stunning to look at & would surely be quick enough for most people?

any time - just send me a pm - it's not a major drag to go for a drive and talk cars - spares my wife the chat for the evening!!
Depending on miles my ideal family car would be the new BMW 335d X drive (in Estoril Blue) or a c63 estate (not the new one - way too rounded for my liking!)

Thanks for that. And funny both my C and E63S were estates, I loved each minute of both and frankly reccomend both cars. But as previously stated they are different animals,

Sounds like your near purchase was very similar to my first viewing. Absolutely terrible shape and not loved at all!
And I'm in South east London so chances of me being that way at some point is entirely possible. If so I'll drop you a message! Appreciate the offer!!
