Two days ago we had a power cut for 16 hours, and a gas leak at the same time, only 20 yards down the road.
The electric cable melted, next to the plastic gas pipe, which was only replaced a couple of years ago.
Could have been nasty!
I've been reliably informed by my farmer neighbour that the electric was put underground back in 1973, and they have simply cut a piece out and spliced in a new bit, but what about the rest of it?
Who runs a plastic gas line so close to the power cable in the first place?
When everything was switched off, it took them 6 hours before they could dig up the road, waiting for some safety barriers....
