Mainly surface rust Phil. Nothing a bit of filler can't sort.

Back from the spray shop.

Happy with the match considering there are 5 different shades of Alfieri. Once the other panels have been correction detailed it will look great.

Looks good - did you spray right across the roof and loose the join on the A pillar? My nsr wheel arch is badly pitted - so too (Thanks for pointing it out Benny) is the nsr light just inside the boot.
As the bumper is delaminating after reversing into a low post (doh) its getting close to whole car!

Last night I managed to get the wheels off project 3200 and send them to the refurb guy who does acid dipping, shot blasting etc so will be good to see what they look like and I am tempted to have our 3200 wheels done should he do a decent job.

Managed to get nearside brakes discs and pads on too which was a result considering the condition of the pads.

Handbrake shoes work a treat too!

The Mintex pads again needed a little filing to get into the calipers. The reason is because of these steel guides

and you can see that the new pads are longer than the originals.

Once the wheels are back with new tyres, it leaves the bumper and boomerangs to be put back on, lower control arm replacement and then a trip to my detailer.

She will be ready for resale in about a week from now.

Where to price her? Answers on a postcard please :D

I might be interested..
What are the details, miles, history etc?
Does it look like it needs anything else doing?
I appreciate that it's perhaps a bit of an ongoing project car, but that's the sort of thing I tend to get involved with...

On a side note (sorry for thread derailing) I see you previously had an Elise S1. I'm looking to compliment mine with a Maser, my thought is something I can take my wife and daughter in that will still be fun, and comfier on longer runs. How would you compare a 3200 with an S1 Elise (I appreciate I'm asking you to compare a doughnut to a wedding cake!!)

Hi Chris

The car is a 2001 (some prefer the more sorted later cars) manual (again I've owned both and prefer the raw more driver focused manual Getrag box) with 62k miles in Alfieri with Ivorio leather (stunning condition with the rear seats looking like they have never been sat in).

The car was a demonstrator for Meridien Modena in Lyndhurst date of first registration 31/1/2001.

History as follows

15/2/2001 @ 1012 miles (Free service) Meridien Modena
07/8/2001 @ 6284 miles Meridien Modena
07/3/2002 @ 18642 miles Meridien Modena
14/8/2003 @ 24718 miles (cambelt change) Meridien Modena
28/1/2005 @ 36028 miles Meridien Modena
17/3/2006 @48699 miles Meridien Modena
29/6/2007 @ 54130 miles Maserati Shed
20/4/2011 @ 58128 (cambelt) Maserati Shed
21/8/2012 @ 62266 Maserati Shed

The car lacks history for the later years and this is where it declined. The previous owner unfortunately chose to neglect it but this is where we came in and renewed the Brakes, tyres, control arm etc... the car will be priced to sell and as you say will benefit from further improvements. It is probably due a cambelt change so that would be the next thing on the list and a good tidy up of the engine bay ( stove enamel or powder coat the plenum and cam covers etc...).

The car has the important throttle body upgrade done by Mike Roberts and I'm sure he'd be happy to work on it again in the unlikely event of a throttle body problem :D

In terms of comparison to the Elise, it's very different as you rightly point out but they are both awesome in their own way, the Elise a proper drivers car, focused mainly for track use but still very much fun on the roads. Ask Dan on here as he is way more knowledgable about them than I ever will be. Mine was a headache for the short duration I owned it (problems with boot release, clam shell and also suspension issues) The 3200 if driven regularly and not left to rot will reward you in many ways, it's when they see little use that the gremlins appear, this car has the all important DBW upgrade so should be good.

PM me if you want to see her or talk prices etc... I'd rather see it go to a forum member who will enjoy it and cherish her.

I have had a couple od S1 Elise and went to a 3200 from a Exige Mark 2 .... These are very different cars from the 3200...The 3200 is a GT the Elise a pure sports car. The 3200 is fun but very different sort of fun. Comfy and fast but no where near as planted as the Elise obviously. I think they will compliment each other well as you they are so different and you will drive the Elise if you are in the mood for a bit and point and squirt driving on your fav twsaty road and the 3200 for more of a manic GT on wider roads.

Slow week as the wheels have been sent away for a refurb and I have been away with work.

Wheels are now back and 4 new Kumho Tyres have been fitted. Looking forward to getting them on the car and putting the finishing touches in tomorrow evening and Friday. All it will need next week is a valet and detail and it will be presented to some interested parties to see if they want her or not.

I'd concur with that having a S1 111s for 8 years before the Maser.
Elise superior on the twists, the Maser simply brutal on power delivery that never seems to end!

A very fast turnaround and another one saved, well done.

Do we call you Mike or Ed from now on?

Darren, I ordered oil filter, sump washers, wing badge set, nose badge, airfilter and 2 chrome dash vents from Meridiens on Wednesday at 3pm and they were delivered and on my desk by 9.30 the next day, and I bet I paid less than you. Speak to Ross and say your from the forum, you will be amazed at what they stock and the prices and the delivery speed. Dick Lovetts offer the same too.

It's a misconception that main dealer parts are expensive and ES are cheaper.

Thanks for that

Now I've been up to Bowker Maserati I'll be ordering parts from them as I'm regularly in the Preston area plus they have some lovely cars on the forecourt to look at while I'm there , chatting to the parts guy this week you can tell he adores the brand and it's not just a job

Last job was control arm. Two of the bolts seized in the bushes!!!! Aargh i guess it had to be. Anyone know where to get the bolts and nuts without spending Eurospares shipping fees and waiting 2 weeks for their snail mail?
