I agree one to look for but already 10K won't do it. Low mileage cars are hitting 20K and beyond. Whether or not they have the colour coded Pile Position Recaros (factory-fit) makes a big difference. Not sure on your 200 of each colour either. Customer could order what they wanted so the numbers fell out from that. Also there were two different silvers, Avus Silver and Brilliant Silver.
Well, yes...obviously. But you gotta at least accept the premise of the thread!I think the classic car market is going to deliver poor returns over the next 10+ years (probably lose money!). Mainly because the era of mega cheap (free) money is in theory over and the society sentiment to fossil fuels is very negative. I'm not old (mid 30), very few of my peers are "in to" cars for the noise/excitement, it's all about the badge. Shows like top gear and posters on the wall used to be about the "obtainable" super cars like a 360/430/gallardo, now the cars idolised are £2m+.
Someone made the point of car values increasing as age groups get older. In 10 to 15 years time, what would I want to buy (at 50)? Errrr I guess some sort of impractical roofless Ferrari, but I suspect by then we won't be far off not being allowed to drive or park it anywhere other than your driveway...
Buy what you want to run and enjoy rather than something gathering dust in a garage going to make a few quid...
Premise of the thread is what would you buy as an investment, my answer is nothing.Well, yes...obviously. But you gotta at least accept the premise of the thread!
Perfect, and totally consistent with my world view!Premise of the thread is what would you buy as an investment, my answer is nothing.
I'd buy something to enjoy and write off as scrap
Sure the second and third worlds will have no interest in EVs for a long time but that just means you need a nice diesel engine in a pick up truck. What worries me more is how China is going to price dump cheaper EVs to take a massive market share leap in Europe. I would not want to be VW going forward.ICE development hasn’t stopped, despite what most firm’s marketing agencies would have you believe.
Wrote a piece about it for the new issue of Magneto.
If you only look at mobility through the prism of Northern Europe, the USA and Japan, it would appear that EVs are the only answer.
The reality is somewhat different…
To be fair much of that is age related and a fast German Coupe of the time from the big three will be worth less by now so Maserati is not doing badly, it is just not viewed anywhere near Ferrari in this regard. The problem with Maseratis is they’re perceived as being money pits … at least that’s what I’ve been told recently when asking for a part exchange price on my 3200. Most dealers are not interested at all. They see no “investment potential” whatsoever; they just see a lot of risk!
Why put something like this on eBay? I would have thought there are more appropriate sales channelsHere's something else I would love to have and put it upstairs in my workshop just perfect.

Love these, remember being squeezed in the back of my mates Dads Leyland ST dept tuned MGB V8 chasing an Interceptor up the M1 & M6 with the speedo never dropping below 130. When we both both pulled into Knutsford services for fuel we all gasped at the driver of the Jensen she was absolutely stunning. Most of you know I'm more of a Classic enthusiast than into Modern cars and this is one of the Best in my opinion.
Pure style indeed and as a boy when my father had one it just blew me away being in the passenger seat and getting out of it and feeling the heat around the car just like when you land at Malaga airport.
