Quattroporte thunder

For family reasons I visited Bristol last week and stayed overnight at The Grande Thistle. When I returned to the QP on the fifth floor of the adjacent multi storey car park the next morning, I knew that I was in for a treat. Surrounded by solid reinforced concrete walls, floors and ceilings the acoustics looked promising. With engine cold and a surrepticious crank of the starter motor, the magnificent V8 awoke from it's slumber with an ear splitting crackle. The Larini exhaust system announced the Maserati presence with a royal fanfare that could be heard around the block....... And the point is that I never tire of that heavenly music and the sheer excitement that goes with Maserati ownership.

Regards,

Paul

PS This is not an article from Quattroporte in the New Forest. This is because the car was in Bristol and having checked my road map Bristol is nowhere near the New Forest.

PPS I haven't mentioned the pigeon for a while have I?

PPPS And no I have not been drinking. I am normally like this!

Good to hear Paul, I do miss my Larini.

My favourite place was Emsworth, just down the road from me. Its a small village with a triangular square in the middle, park bench, old people milling around etc. On each side of this triangular square are high buildings, probably all 4 stories high all round.

Everyone stopped and looked when I used to take the Maserati down there, some disapproving looks, but many just turned down their hearing aids.

Happy days.....found this the other day, this was before I had the silencers put back in, savage does not even come close:

Matt,

That sounds like a WW11 Spitfire prior to takeoff! I remember your Gransport on a run to Ace and during a trip to France last year. It sounded awesome.

Paul

Some week ago I had the pleasure of taking my wife and her grandmother to lunch. I was careful to focus on the best executive qualities of the Quattroporte with a smooth and gentle drive being the order of the day. The Italian styling, the finest leather interior and quality appointments were all much appreciated by my distinguished passenger. Everything was going well right upto the point where I emerged onto a roundabout. Given the presence of another car to my right I realised that to complete the manoeuvre safely required judicious application of the throttle. Flooring the accelerator in second produced a huge gob of torque, a blood curdling howl from the exhaust and a fair ground blast of acceleration which pinned both granny and her internal organs to the front passenger seat! Apart from that it couldn't have been better!

Paul
