Ahhh, that gave me a clue.

Was this the guy who won a gold medal at the summer Olympics (boxing?) and then one in the winter Olympics? (at what I don't know).

Boxing and bobsleigh are quite different disciplines so that's quite a feat. There's many athletes who go from track and field to sledding, Lizzy Yarnold for one.

There was another guy who won Golds in both Summer & Winter but it was in the same sport as one of the skating disciplines originally was in the Summer Olympics before the Winter Olympics were started.

I'm guessing here, but that sounds like world rally car winners so how about; Opel, Fiat, Vauxhall, Talbot/Sunbeam, Alpine/Renault, Austin.

Pre 87 ?

WRC Constructors started in 73 and the winners were Alpine, Lancia, Fiat, Ford, Talbot, Audi, Peugeot

If pre 97 Subaru & Toyota could be added to the list and then Mitsubishi from 98

Just seen Renault was in so it could be Monte Carlo rally and then you would need to add Porsche & Opel but pretty sure Ford have never won the Monte

Ermm, laterally "goes for a lie down"

So is it rally related? It seems like it should be as I can't think of anything that Alpine have been involved with other than that. Consider drivers championship but sure Walter Rohl won that in an Opel. Can't be the RAC neither Fiat or Alpine won that. And is there any significance of pre 87?

Need to think more

Think your going to have to put us out of our misery Geoff and set a new question. The thread has gone dead for now.
