I may have asked this before but here goes :-

What is / was a Fu-go and what were they uniquely responsible for in the USA ?

I think I know this one.

The Fu-Go was a hydrogen ballon which Japan developed to drop bombs on the US using the jet stream to carry them to the US mainland.

i guess the unique bit was they were the only bombs dropped on North America in WW2?

A useless fact on top, they were the longest bombing raid in history until the Vulcan Raid at the beginning of the Falklands war.

Correct Mark.

They were hydrogen ballons made of silk or paper with incendiary and antipersonnel charges attached to it.

Launched in the latter stages of WW2 around 9000 were released but less than 400 actually hit mainland USA.

Uniquely they were responsible for the only combat mainland USA deaths during WW2. Six people were killed while enjoying a picnic in Oregon.

Over to you Mark.

I only knew about it when I read a piece about the Vulcan air raid.
Interesting stuff.

On the subject of war, everyone knows that Stalingrad was the worst battle of the Second World War (based on casualties).

What was the second worst?

I'd go with that one too. Some say it was even more costly than Stalingrad but no one will ever know the true figures of either.

OK
Here is an old chestnut
Delaware was the first 'state' in what was to become the USA
but what were the last 4?
In order would be good but not critical and a bonus for each state capital.
That should keep you going.....................................

Those were the easy ones :)

C

Well, nothing like stating the obvious.

For some reason I'm also thinking New Mexico. Only because New is in the name.
Wasn't it a disputed piece of land between the US and Mexico?

Couldn't tell you what the capital is even if that is a right answer!

New Mexico - Santa Fe? The other states down there are Texas (Houston) and Arizona (Phoenix).

We are nearly there
Hawaii - Honolulu
Alaska - not Anchorage
New Mexico - Santa Fe
Arizona - Phoenix

Whoever gets the state capital for Alaska is the winner - good combined effort lads
