OK, as some of us have Le Mans on our minds :)

Why were chicanes introduced on the Mulsanne straight ?

Are you sure? FIA said no straights longer than 2km, so ACO installed 2 of them, but the reason was to reduce time spent at around 250mph.

Now that is correct.

The FIA had been looking at ways to slow the cars down on the Mulsanne for a number of years and all technical changes failed, to the point that in 1988 the WM-P88 Peugeot reached 253. So the FIA came up with the no straight longer than 2km which led to both chicanes being introduced for the 1990 race and forced top speeds to reduce.

In 2014 the fastest Toyota & Audi clocked just under 211 mph whilst the 1990 Nissan R90 in the classic support race was 3rd with 210.1 mph.

Drivers didn't like it much either, as they didn't get the long 'rest' down the Mulsanne.

I'm out most of the day Zags, please set another.

I think I heard about him recently, doesn't he have the poorest record in F1?

Correct, in 1990 he entered 14 consecutive races and failed to qualify for any of them. His qualification times were often up to 15 secs slower than his team mate in the same car.
