Correct.
The lowest land that is not covered by the ocean is in Antarctica.
The Bentley Subglacial Trench in Antarctica reaches approx 2600 meters below sea level at the bottom of a huge valley, and is covered by a vast glacier (Byrd glacier).

Does it not depend when in 1912? Historically new states are added on the 4th of July so assuming there were additions in 1912 there must have been a before and after number

"and then 48" is correct, but they did not add as many as 8 states on 4 July 1912. The vast majority of the states were formed before 1900. Oklahoma was 1907.

I think 48 is about right, Hawaii & Alaska were around 1960 I think.

Going off the the two previous state added you mentioned. It possibly 46 and the 48 in 1912 then.

Yes, Arizona & New Mexico added in 1912 to take it from 46 to 48. Alaska & Hawaii were added in 1959
