Nice cheerful question for you : Which country has the highest suicide rate per 100,000 of population. The figure for this country is almost 3 times the global average.

Is it Japan? I read just today about a young man setting himself on fire on a bullet train and the story went on to say about the very high rate amongst 25 - 40 year old males

Hmmm. I'd have thought that the number of suicide bombers was really rather small.

Random googling indicates that something like 69 suicide attacks took place during the Syrian civil war (up to the end of 2012)

Whereas we had >6k suicides in the UK in 2013. 11.9 deaths per 100 000

I know which is the lowest...or was until recently, and I was surprised!

Still not been mentioned yet. on average 1500 a year less die in road traffic accidents in this country. Its difficult to give any clue so i will take areas of the world out from tomorrow if i cant think of any clues to help.

No prize this time. Please try again highest rate of suicides by profession, farmers is correct but i believe it was Chinese women that topped ! that table.
They get left alone to work the farms while their husband leave to go and work in the city. I think India was next after that for suicides amongst farmers.

Yes its an eastern block country. There doesn't appear to be a reason behind it. Farming is a smll part of their GDP. Manufacturing of machinery is one of their highest.

South Korea possibly has the highest number of suicides. It's certainly right up there. i'm looking for the country with the highest suicide rate per capita 100,000
