A couple of weeks ago I fitted Larini sports back boxes on the 4200, there is no drone, but they are loud! Any yes, after experiencing two 200 mile journeys last weekend I would still buy them again.
Iv'e got Larini's on mine and they drone a lot at about 2-2.5 k, but boy are they loud

Have you still got the original Maserati center box (Resonator) fitted, or do you have X or Y pipes instead. Its the job of that center box Resonator to cancel out certain frequencies that cause irritating droning, the back boxes are just silencers. I think it would be true to say the back boxes may amplify it, but dont cause it.

So I bought and fitted the Quicksilver X Pipe and the Back boxes (full bore sport) for my 4200. The noise was exactly what I wanted. Dogs barked, kids dropped ice cream cones, alarms went off and the neighbours stopped talking to me. At 5K RPM accelerating then going for an added downshift was mental!
However the only thing louder was my wifes complaints so - I had to 'tone it down.

The best combination I got was surprisingly to use the Quicksilver X Pipe and standard rear boxes - no drone at all and a really nice sound - each to his own though.

No, custom made X pipe which replaced the secondary cats and the centre box.

I prefer straight throughs, mine are front to back so the centre box is gone as well.
Fairly loud (119db) no drone, some say it sounds very American V8 as it’s a cross plane crank.
At motorway speed you never notice it - only the cars you pass get a fright!
Plenty of views on here for all the variations and you tube clips. It’s a personal choice

Ok guys.. I've just bought a pair of mint origin factory spec secondo mano Maserati 3200 rear boxes from Stu.
I'm not into all this stainless steel aftermarket noisy stuff, as I like to keep the old 3200GT originali:cool:
