Okay guys I'm very sorry I haven't posted any serious updates. The responses on the forum have been quick and distracted hoping they came out right because I've been trying to get some of these projects done in-between daily life. So here is some photos for you.

First here is the front bumper again. I had to sand it down because the wind literally picked it up and tossed it leaving road rash on one side.....(please don't ask it's a sore spot and one of the stories you've heard how someone already knew better when they did it).

I thought it came out quite well. If you check this photo directly above look at how the color actually changes in parts of the sunlight.

Now for the rear GS bumper.......so I took a GS bumper that didn't have the sensor holes and measured the exact distance on my current bumper to drill and place them in the GS one. I might add I was quite surprised by the sporadic spacing of the sensor holes on the stock bumper.

Here's the exact reading for the sensor holes on the stock bumper:

Here's an example of how I drilled the holes out on the new bumper.....first after measuring where it was supposed to be I began a pilot hole:

Next I needed a 1" bore bit.....this actually has what looks like a self tapping screw on the end that centers in the pilot hole:

Looks jagged above.....no worries I began feathering the paint back....ideally each step in the paint will be a 1/4" from Clear to base coat to primer:

Here's the first measurement after drilling.......little tight;

Use one of these:

remember the original measurement?

IMAG0986.jpg

adhesive promoter and sealer.....some think both aren't necessary but hey it's my bumper and budget so I get to do what I feel is necessary!

I didn't forget the insides I did the outside first then went to work on all the terrible adhesive they used to keep the screens in:

primer is next:

and since you guys have seen other photos of the base/midcoat/clear in the other thread here is the finished product....sorry took them on a cloudy day so you really aren't going to see the clarity of it well:

Let's not forget the insides I will scratch these areas up when I re-install the grill pieces:

Oh did someone say grill pieces! Just got them back from Brown's Plating out of Kentucky. Cost me about $230 total to re-chrome the front; back and the two small back pieces:

Oh let's not forget the front emblem on the front bumper, it's bigger than a 4200 one so that's brand new as well.

There's a few pieces left yet. I still have to finish the small piece that fits the bottom of the rear bumper, and I am waiting for the front grill trim piece. I will keep you guys updated when I put them on the car.

Lovely paint finishe again...if only you were closer I would be commissioning you to do my front one.

Can you tell me if you can access the front emblem fixing bolt without removing the front bumper? Is so please can you describe the steps.

Safrane I really would like to tell you that there is another way to access the front emblem without removing the front bumper but I really do not believe there is. The way that it is bolted to the back of the bumper as you can see is the problem. It's directly centered in the top part of the bumper so you can not reach around with the wheel well splash panels removed. As well reaching up from below because of where it's at would not work either. Very sorry. There's only one other thing I can think of that you could possibly do to forgo the struggle with a removal. That's to drill right in the middle of the emblem itself to push the bolt back through the other direction. If you are careful you could do it. When you put the new one on however you would not be able to place the nut on it. I'm pretty sure the adhesive tape would hold it, and the stud would still be through the bumper. Hope that helps.....

Thank you for the comments above. I really enjoy paint work. Some of the chemical reactions aren't always fun but to see the finished product is rewarding.

All Done!!

Okay guys tell me what you think............2002 Maserati Spyder......GS upgrades! Lol everything but that lower valance for the front. I acquired a face lift valance till I find the GS one.........not bad I'm thinking! It's my friend's dealer plate. I haven't registered it yet I took it over to get the alignment done on the car. This week I hopefully will put my own plate on it.

Lol......don't resist Chris. Everywhere I went people couldn't resist staring either! Call me crazy but I didn't think those 19" rims and new Michelins were going to change the drive of the vehicle that much, but it gave it a remarkably smooth ride. I think I came out of it much better in the wallet to. It wasn't inexpensive but it wasn't any where close to what I would have paid to upgrade from someone else. I think all in I have $4000 USD for the rims/tires/bumpers/grill/rechroming of the rear pieces, and paint.

Great work, love this step by step jobs - if only I had the time, patience and skill to do these sort of things myself

Thank you everyone for the replies!

@Safrane oh brother, that's how it starts a front bumper and fender! Small modification turns into a suggestion of different highlights, next thing you know my small vacation turns into a full blown residency in the UK! LOL! I do love to paint though. It's a fun hobby but can get fairly expensive. Maybe if I fly over we can just line up the forum members, rent a spray booth and go to town! LOL!

I fitted an electromagnetic parking sensor that goes inside the bumpers front and rear and this didn't require drilling. It did require the bumpers to be removed so i did it when i was sorting out some paintwork and panel fitting stuff. I fitted the front sensor low down so i could detect kerbs.

Davy I would have loved to do that but these sensors are what was on the car, I would of had to change not only all the sensors out but the control module as well. I am not totally sure that if I attempted to change all of that out if it would have interfaced correctly or not for a 2002 vehicle. For me I felt it was best to go with what I know. Do you have the information for the parking sensors you used that interfaced to your control module?

Sorry friend I haven't answered in a minute, for whatever reason I don't get the notifications.
The color of the car is as follows:
Main body-- Base Coat: Sorrent Blau Mica OEM code: 360 (DBC MET) with a Darker (D) Variant, Front and rear bumpers are same Base with the "Prime" variant instead of the "Darker" variant (gives it a lighter appearance though I might match the entire car instead. My younger friends like it, my wife doesn't.)
Mid-Coat or Pearl Coat Is: Moonlight White, Aspen Pearl OEM code: QAA (DBC Tricoat) with a Darker (D) Variant
Clear Coat is PPG Concept Clear 2021

Also the trim pieces, mirrors, inside the headlights. etc. are painted with a straight PPG black with the above Pearl coat over it to make the car look custom but more of a factory blend custom. The tail lights I tinted with the lighter variant of the Base above, and the pearl coat sealed them with the clear as well (I used adhesion promoter as the base to make sure they do not peel). I didn't like the appearance of these big factory tail lights coming out of the back of the car. When the rear lights aren't lit they fade into the entire back end.
