These are so cheap....With only around 64 left in the UK you would think they would be more desirable....Remember when they came out and were pitched against the Esprit which would now cost you at least double if not more to get one of the same year as the Alpine GTA...If my memory serves me they were pretty good in their day...

One I always had a eye on, Marcus Tandy had one in that short running BBC Spainish Soap Opera, Elderado, I thought it looked the business.

They have a reputation for trouble, most noticably turbos and gearboxes. Being a Renault of that era, the interior trim will fall to bits.

Cheap, fun and agro, sounds like a girl I used to know

Well having been in one, a later model as you can see below, i was pretty surprised by how much i liked it. As Matt says, the interior was not great, the dashboard squeaked but oh my the seats, leather of course were so comfy it was uncanny. Performance for the later car, 0-60 in 5.4 so it is pretty decent, makes a nice sound too with a V6 and being twin tubro. I am not sure if i could buy one, if i did then it would be of the one i went in as i prefer the looks of the later model and of course the colour. The only colour for the Alpine IMO is Yellow. I found it hard to believe that car below had done 125k miles.

They rust badly on the chassis, most cheap ones are broken because of this, and parts are harder to get hold of than for a maserati. I am biased but the lotus esprit is far superior, and the latter a610 is a better car than the GTA, but a good one is the price of a reasonable esprit s4, which gets to sixty in 4.7 ( my lotus esprit s4 would leave a 3200ac up to 100)

The owner of the A610 i went in said he could sell it for around 5k more in France than in England as they are more desirable there.

GTA and A610 are worth alot more in france, but again how much is a 3200 worth in Aus/NZ, and a few lotus esprits are heading out to auz now. In the uk we just have horrendous depreciaition

My dad has owned a gta turbo since 91. I thought it was ace as a kid growing up when i could fit in the back seat but think the wedge shape has aged badly. The le mans edition is the best one around in my opinion but they are super rare

The later "rounded' Esprits look a lot better than the early ones IMO. I was looking at Esprit V8s when I started the hunt which led to my spyder. I still like the look of them.

I would not buy an Esprit, never seen the attraction with them, look like a chunk of double Gloucester.

Adam...wash your mouth out........A true British classic...You can not tell me you don't get a stirring in your loins when you watch bond in his white Esprit........That mad me yearn for one...
