Good luck with the insurance Adam. Anything which has sport, GTi, Trophy or cup on its boot lid and you are going to get done dry from behind. With vigour.

Be careful about how you go about doing that as the insurance companies are wising up to that little dodge. If you have a prang and they suspect you are the main driver you will be up sh1t creek without propulsion.

I know yeah, it is a risk some people take, all my friends are fronting their insurers.

I've owned many Renaults before moving to my Masser. I've had several Fuego Turbos, 19 16Vs, Renaultsport Clio 172 Phase 1 - the original one and an Alpine GTA Turbo V6 plus a 2ltr Avantime Turbo. Had great fun with them all, posted some pics on this forum a while back of my Alpine. Never had any issues with the 172 in 10 years of ownership, 128,000 miles and driving round many race tracks across Europe in it. GTA was great and the Avy just made everyone stare!

The Renaultsport cars are very good and good value 2nd hand...

Viva la Renault!

Hi V8.
Yup, me too.
The Alpine must have been superb? Don't you just wish you still had it?
Forgot the R11 Turbo I had in 1988; a new one and I bought it from my company when I left.
A bit like the R26R ... a bit of a hoot with the engine from the R5 Turbo. Probably would burn out quickly......... though I had mine for the best part of 50K miles and no problems whatsoever.

In fact, if I am honest, next to Maserati, Renault come next to being my favoured marque.
I'd love to say Alfa but the new corporate face is pretty disappointing. The worst look from Alfa for many years.
Friend of mine bought a new Guiletta in January. Had it for a month and swapped it in for a new Brera (one of the last).
Had a go in the Guiletta and it was very, very ordinary.

the phase one 172 is a bargain, £1500 gets a hgh miler, 2-2.5k gets a minter, you cant get much more fun for the money.

Mark, bet the R26R is just awesome, would love one of them.
Agree with what you say about them being one of your faveourite marques, i do have a bit of an obsession with the sport models. Alpine A110, such a unique looking car, saw one at a car show last year, will dig some pics out tomorrow, the are so low, the roof doesn't come up to my waist.

I nearly said it could have been styled now, but realised it couldn't as there is a lack of flair in the styling studios worldwide.
That is a seriously lovely car.

I want.
