Roof Stops Half Way - Grancabrio 2016

Hi,

I have an issue with the roof on my 2016 Grancabrio. At first I could wait a few seconds and re-try and it would continue to work, then soon after I would have to wait and retry about 2 - 8 times for it to work, now it simply gets stuck and will not move.

I have so far identified the issue being that the car does not seem to understand that the rear hood has opened completely so will not continue to put the roof down, or put it up (happens for me at this stage when putting down or up, as soon as the back hood opens to completion the error occurs).

I have found I can get out and go to the opened back hood on the drivers side and wiggle it (pretty forcefully) back and forwards a couple of times, then get back in the car and retry and it appears to work.

I think the sensor has either a faulty connection (and believe it is on the drivers side on the hydraulic strut), or needs to be adjusted as the back hood is opening maybe to 99.9% and the sensor is not acknowledging it is open so the next step can continue. By pushing it back and forwards it seems to trigger this sensor and everything can continue.

The error occurs when both putting the roof down and up... and always happens as soon as the back hood finishes opening.

Would love to know if someone has worked out how to easily adjust this so it works correctly again.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Cheers,

It will be that a microswitch is not making contact at the correct time. Done loads of 4200 Spyder's but so far the GC does not seem to have issues.

You need to look at the stage that’s just completed and the stage that’s about to happen at stall.

You will be able to work out which microswitch by the stage it stalls. Look at the Eurospares drawings for their locations.
