that time of year and used Colchester for a while and now looking to use AutoShield who have been more than great but find them very hard to get hold off.

AutoShield are not ruled out but thinking about 2 others and would be interested to hear your comments on them in regards to happy with work done, personal service and if you think the cost was OK

Grimaldi
Emblem

as with AutoShield location, distance isn't an issue, so happy to travel for the right service

I have used Emblem for an inspection and they seemed OK. I use Autoshield all the time now for our two Maserati's and find them excellent. They should not be hard to get hold of, if Marios is away they could be stretched, but still there..!!

Marios takes a week a year off, that's this week, keep trying them and you'll get them. I've not used Grimaldi myself but have only heard good things, Emblem I have used and speak to regularly, they're excellent.

I had the Spyder inspected by Emblem and was impressed with the way they do business to the point that I have just booked the Spyder in with them for it's MOT, Secondary Air Issue and per Le Mans checkover even though they are over 2.5 hours away from me.

Once again despite me having some strange requests they have been more than happy to accommodate me.

Hi Darren. I appreciate you asked about 2 specific alternatives, and distance is not an issue for you, but I recently used McGraths and came away very happy. Not that far away from you either.

thanks guys

agreed Autoshield are great and friendly and more than happy to use but still no response - will try tomorrow

spoke to Emblem who also very helpful and rang me back almost on the time they said but won't try and match costs even from dealers :(

yep also use Bill for maintenance bits and bobs as they are close and I always find the service very good. I'm just not keen on this percentage they add at the bottom of the invoice for sundries ?

Hi Ross, Enzo, I can't help on this I'm afraid, as I don't use Emblem. I use Shiltech who are close by me. You might be mixing me up with Myles (Aldous), who's Technical Director at Emblem and is very knowledgeable by all accounts I've heard.

McGraths for me too, my first time after buying my 4.2 but they did sort out everything well, I had a young guy called Paul doing the work, I lived in Hert's at that time and was amazed that the main dealers who have serviced my car from new via the previous owner was willing to pick up and return my car for £100.00 from Exeter, do you think they might of robbed me on the work :))

I only ever use Emblem. They have looked after my Maserati and Ferrari cars for the last 7 years or so and I couldn't fault them. Their pricing is very reasonable for their service, and lower than the local main dealer as a rule. When you see how many Concours events the cars they look after win, you'll understand their standards.

Of course, if all you want is the place that'll do the cheapest oil change, it wouldn't be worth the journey. But if you want specialist assistance, give them a go. If you do visit, take a look at the Ghibli they are doing a ground up restoration of - it was the London Motor Show car from about 1970 or so, and is going to be another Concours winner.

The others you mention may well be equally as good and well worth visiting, but having not needed to use them, I couldn't comment.

Emblem have looked after both of my Maserati's and I have always been impressed by their attention to detail. OK there are cheaper options but I prefer knowing that they are honest and in my books thats worth more than a £100 saving.

I have limited experience to date, but have been to Emblem twice.
Once for a 'free' clinic and then for some warranty work.
Excellent, really helpful.
A friend has his F355 serviced every year at Carrs, Exeter....swears by them and very competitive on price, plus main dealer.

Have used Grimaldi for 5 years,
Initially QP and then QP and 550 past 3 years...
Very happy with their work, their knowledge, and the way my car and I am treated,
I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I've used Emblem too, mainly because I live ten minutes away! But they are very good, and will spot the smallest detail but will give you the option of fixing it or not. They do plenty for customers, such as a free Saturday morning clinic (by appointment only) and they often do meetings and trips out with fellow customers. If fact I need to pop back for a service myself soon.

thanks - not at all, never want to look for cheap oil / parts - I always want my cars fully serices as per manufacture spec and also anything the garage finds I want done right and replaced - but within reason of course. I used Colchester for a while until I found out they weren't changing my air filter as I hadn't asked for it to be done - being shocked was an understatement, reason for looking for a replacement Indy.

thanks Enzo - I've read somewhere these guys are very good and more local to me (bonus) than the other 2 - due to give them a call

I can't comment on any of the ones you've mentioned but i've just had a major service including spark plugs (and he cleans the engine bay, paints the brake hubs etc) by Gary at GT autos and was very impressed with the service and price (£705)
