Hi chaps, I'm sure this age-old problem has been covered already, but here goes...

I need to get the car serviced end August. I have the choice between taking it back to the supplying dealer where it has been numerous times (main dealer Ferrari/Maserati) or taking it to the independent specialists I know (who mainly do Bentley, Ferrari, Lambo and Maserati, but not specifically focused on any one marque).

Price difference? 43,500 mile service @ main dealers = £1150 inc vat. Same service at independents = £650 inc vat.

What would you guys do?

big difference in price but have no idea if your indy has a good rep or not............do a search on here and you will come up with indys that members use and trust........you might be surprised and find your indy on the list

Given the age of a coupe now main dealers wanting 10% of the vehicles value is a little rich and given that their staff will be younger tban the cars they are looking after it wouls, for me, be a good indi' each time...and to be honest they do a far better job.

Yeah I've been wrestling with this for some time and I've decided to go indie after my experience with MD's. The cars 7 years old now so I can't see this making any difference on the re-sale.
I went to see them Friday and spent 2 hrs there. They are X DK which gets my vote and we talked in length about mileage vs what actually needs to be done on the service sheet vs the cost and it's mind blowing what MD's want for a some oil and filters and a quick look over. As I'm always told you have to be competitive.... I could actually do the service myself looking at whats involved. So..... The 'saving' allows me X-pipe, wheel referb, SS bolts and spacers?? TBC and it's still matches the MD quote for just the service. They are 4 miles from me very nice guys, and easily accountable for any issues that I know won't arise. Interesting client base as well! They were taking a QP off for a re-map.
