Had some fun on the way back from Chelmsford with (I think) a BMW on the Hastingwood roundabout. 70 in a 40 is not necessarily sensible, but we had fun, and it was only for about 45 seconds away from the lights. :D

Happy to say Doris is back on the road, just a shame it's the M6 rolling carpark. Apparently the gearbox solenoids were trying to operate in an incorrect order, failing and blowing the fuse.

They were "unconfused" by judicious use of a big enough hammer (ok, a software update and re-programming) and she's remembered how to be sequential again.

Front suspension drop-links also replaced in an unrelated incident.

.....a one off unique failing Chris.........great the Autoshield got to the bottom of it....but did it show up on the SD kit or just brilliant diagnostician/deduction work?

.....so who decided to get mallet out and thump solenoids?!

Its a bit gobsmacking that it was the only way to "correct" a possible undiagnosable problem

He's improving. The last I knew he only had one f*ck off big hammer and a bad attitude! :)

Funny I thought it could be something like that, but never heard of it before. I have seen russell's big hammer, it's frightening when he's thumping **** out of the underside of a car, but it all works and does the job..!!

Trust me guys I've been a motor engineer for over 30 years and my hammer collection is very important and used daily. Its knowing how to use them that's important.

I think Russell took hammer lessons from Peter Sutcliffe. :)
