she's back...

well after 13 months in various Indy's she is fixed and had the most expensive, intensive independent check....

history so going back to May 2015 I replaced both my variators, oil accumulator, new spark plugs, new cam cover seals and had injectors sonic cleaned by garage with new filters

issue car started great and drove great, had higher temp than normal and failed almost every time starting when hot. when cold it was on first turn over. due to this she has been off the road most of the year and i've missed a few events I would have like to have gone to.

investigation
took her to 3 respected indy garages who spent 60+ hours between them investigating.

Indy1 who diagnosed faulty ECU after software upgrade.

2nd indy did extensive testing top to bottom, confirmed ECU ok and fixed an upgrade corruption.

we also had maserati technical support assistance, same guy who looked after the car when Jodie had it....

we got to the point were bills were mounting and not getting any further forward, so was almost at the point of scrapping her. not wanting to give up - one last go...

Indy 3 suggested a complete set of injectors after 2 days investigation

SHE IS FIXED

thousands of pounds down but i am so pleased she is fixed and back, also glad the extensive investigation done by Indy2 showed she was in great condition and no other issues found...

fix we think when the software was first updated by Indy1 it got corrupted plus the injector service broke the injectors causing too much fuel which caused starting and heating issue. having 2 issues caused some confusion with different results... yes also pi££ed with the injector service....

she starts when hot, temp is as normal again, sat in traffic for an hour and temp hardly moved, still starts great when cold and drives maybe better now than when i first got her some 6yrs ago...

Massive massive massive thank you to Dan, Myles and Tim for all their help, support and getting her fixed...

So the message to others is to always go directly to Emblem! Do not pass Go, Do not collect £200, just go straight to Emblem.

In fact, earlier in the year Tim managed to fix the intermittent hot-start issues with my classic Ferrari. But I've not used that car for a few months now, so must assume something else has broken itself in the meantime.:conf4:

Great news, fault finding when there are a couple of consecutive issues can be a real trial. You got there though. :)

yep Emblem (Myes) did over 40+ hours checking and replacing almost every sensor, component from electric, water, oil to air systems which I think help Dan fix her. agreed Emblem and Ftech are the places to go... even though Dan is even further away doesn't put me off at all using them in the future....

I didn't think Tim got his hands dirty :)

September!
great... looking forward to it...

What car have you got? (Couldn't find this in your message or profile.)
Thanks,
Steve.

Jodie Kidds Gransport - sadly she didnt come with the car....

Excellent news, I saw the car a couple of time when I was down at Emblem this year and it was interesting to see even Myles struggling to find out what was wrong.

thanks all for the response
I could start the car fine when cold , but if I needed petrol I had to try a few times to start or even wait awhile to cool down... I was filling her up with petrol cans before taking her to the garages :)

Sounded an expensive nightmare! Well done for sticking with it.

thanks - yep very expensive mistake / issue caused by others - first figure was a 5 :( I'm was kicking myself big time on this thinking it was something I did but just didn't make sense as you also did it at the same time....

Is at least part of the moral 'Don't try and clean injectors'?

C

mine were serviced by someone who did this service for Lambos, Ferraris and Audi race cars so seemed to be OK (and I'm fussy who looks after my cars).... you just never know as even Maserati/Ferrari Indy caused me further issues - corrupted my ECU...

Darren, do you have any recall to the Indy1?

I wish but how do I prove it, other than it was fine before...

Yep had some good calls with Myles. I did see you arriving as I was leaving in a Taxi... I did wave but I suspect the other cars on display distracted you :)

I have just done some training with Bosch down here and it blew me away.
It's amazing that 12,000 miles away from Europe and some of the best knowledge gained to date.
Most important think learned was about putting products out of tins, bottles etc in engines is that they are engine fookers.
Don't do it.
