Shipping European Cars to U.S.

Anyone had any experience with this? Can a brand and model that was in fact sold across the U.S. by the factory, be easily imported as an individual car when it was originally sold and titled in Europe? Something like a 4200 or a GranTurismo? Any rough idea what shipping costs might be?

Thanks...

Ta Maf,

If the vehicle is more than 25 years old then it is very easy to ship a vehicle into the US, if it it less than that then your best bet is to contact the Maserati Club in the USA as they will have all the data required to submit so that it can be registered, specifically they should be able to provide crash test data, compliance testing and emissions confirmation to satisfy the DMV, it becomes even worse if shipping into California.

Don't buy a car in Europe without obtaining this information and talking to your DMV and get their requirements in writing, the best thing is to find a broker who can handle this for you.

We can ship the vehicle from the UK and customs clear it, but beware if you can't satisfy the requirements then the US customs will refuse entry and insist on sending it back.

Hopefully this link will help: - https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/de...-/-non-conforming-vehicle-or-car-into-the-u.s.

This link also should help: - http://www.examiner.com/article/con...-into-the-u-s-you-may-want-to-read-this-first

That's why I say contact your countries Maserati Club as they will or should have experience of providing the data you need.

If the vehicle is in the UK then complete our online quote form and I'll sort things out for you and give you an SM discount, just mention it in the comments.

Hope that helps?

John: Very helpful indeed. I'm not quite there yet and the car is not in England. I'm coming over in May for some weeks of riding and will hopefully get a look at the car. If not, I won't be interested, of course.

Thank you very much for checking in and for the links. The car is less than 10 years old. I'll get back with you if there is eventually a deal in the air. In the meantime, I'll check in with my DMV and try to get the info needed.

Only too glad to help

I can't stress how important it is to contact the owners club, they usually hold the key to a successful import.
