Thank you very much Malcolm.... You know who is now bouncing around the house, giddy to bid on it, don't you?

Oh yes, it worked. Rotter! ;)

Could be an expensive weekend... She's investigating the phone bidding option.

So today's question is .....

Will Susie be the new owner of a 456 by the end of the day?

You know you'll love it Drew!

Just picked up on this thread. Was at Carfest and saw part of the auction. Don't think the 456 sold but was very near, maybe after the auction, around £25k I think!

Evening all - been very ill all weekend I'm afraid, so spent most of the time in bed, not even dreaming of buying Ferraris. Herself tells me the car went for £26500 in a private sale after the auction, and I'm assured 'we' haven't bought it. Shame...

My old one is for sale in Essex both on ebay and piston heads just had service and belts plus rear tyres and rear shocker refurb done very recently. Worth a look and a Guinness world record holder. Phil.

I was looking at the really clean silver one Dicky has up for sale. Have to say I'm not a big fan. It looks a bit bland to me and it doesnt give me 'the tingle'.

They are nice cars Ian with a great engine but its a big GT and your right about the tingle. I'm glad to have owned one and done the road trips I wanted to do but my 360 gives me a ***** every time. Phil.

My advice for anyone looking for a 456 is to buy a Modifacto (post 1999). The earlier cars suffered from suspension and window problems that weren't fixed until the updated model was introduced. Better interior also (and cleaner fron end). Definitely worth spending the very small extra for a late car over an early car.

20k or so on an early car will, in all likelihood, mean expensive problems. But 30k on a late car could bring much joy. However, they're not cheap to run whichever you chose.

Hope you're back on your feet Drew.

Please pass my thanks onto "herself" for the great review on Tripadvisor!
See you soon I'm sure, Fezza or not.

Drew,
Get fixed up soon, no fun being off colour, in particular when it's sunny outside..!!
Cheers

Thanks all for the good wishes and advice. I would also rather spend more on a decent car, than buy a bargain which proves to be anything but...

I don't think silver suits the car; she's looking for a dark blue car ideally - big GT is exactly the sort of thing that works for her too, rather than a harder, more adrenaline inducing machine. There's no rush to buy the first thing that comes along, particularly as there are 6 cars at home at the moment, mostly because the DVLA haven't managed to return V5s to us after 9 weeks. Not impressed.
