Will have to start thinking about suitable pads, so much choice!
Hi,Happy to hold discs here in Bristol for any SW collection as I am WFH quite a bit. Also travel by car to London so can assist with stock collection too.
Hi,
I am in Italy but my parent s in law in Bristol. I would like to ask u if u could bring my two set of 4discs to Bristol. I would really appreciate. From there I will manage it myself. Thank u very much for your help roberto
SportsMaserati.com have been working behind the scenes to get this off the ground. We have received notification of pricing today and you will all be amazed, stunned and will want to buy me drinks for perpetuity.
The discs are for the 3200/4200/Spyder and GranSport as well as Ferrari 550 and will be manufactured to a high specification (see below) - GG15HC grade casting, vented, cross-drilled with countersunk holes (same hole pattern as the 550). GG15HC is a higher grade casting than OEM.
Technical details
GG15HC high silicone, high carbon cast iron alloy as the name implies uses higher carbon content during the casting process; approximately double the carbon content than normal brake discs. Carbon content ranges from 2% to approximately 4% and GG15HC is right at the top end. More silicone is also added to GG15HC to encourage the formation of graphite during the cooling process. These graphite flakes add "Plasticity" to the cast iron matrix and are excellent at absorbing shocks and preventing cracks.
Major advantages of GG15HC cast iron:
- The graphite flakes dampen vibrations, reducing brake judder and brake noise
- The graphite flakes conduct heat very well and therefore reduce thermal distortions
- The graphite flakes act as mini stress "focal points" for potential cracking making this material extremely viable for use on drilled and slotted discs, drawing the stress away from the machined slots or holes, preventing cracks.
The discs will also be fully balanced and hubs covered in a black corrosion-resistant coating.
We are not going to share the details of the manufacturer on this site as we know certain people are watching, but please be assured it's a quality manufacturer who only works in this area. All discs will carry a full manufacturers warranty.
So, the prices:
Front discs
£45 +VAT each
Rear discs
£40 +VAT each
So that's a full set of discs for just over £200! Postage will be additional, or they can be collected from a London address TBC. A full set from Maserati or Eurospares was £950 the last time I looked, so this is a saving of almost 80%
In order to get production started I need a list of those interested. We will need to order a minimum 100 units of each disc, so the preference is that you buy a full set. At this price I can't see why you wouldn't, even to have as spares. If we comfortably get to 50 full sets I will then start to look at fronts or rears only. The final thing to note is that these discs probably won't be available until mid-January due to the production process.
Please add your name to the list. As soon as we hit the required number the order will be placed and you will be asked for payment.
Please keep all comments and questions off of this thread and direct them to me via PM
