Cant believe what i just heard on the news , apparently if you have fitted snow tyres on your car , you have to notify your insurance company , they treat this as a modification and have increased premiums by 20% hpow bizzare is that , you improve safety to reduce accidents and get penalised durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just another example of rip off Britain , the news reader was saying that in europe that its a legal requirement

Just seen another news item where a Insurance spokesperson said that it is all a mistake. As long as you are fitting tyres to the car manufacturers specifacations it is not classed as a mod. Almost all car handbooks I've seen list the tyre sizes at the back and normally list a winter tyre. This spokesman said that if you get told otherwise by the telephone sales person to ring the company direct to confirm.
