So, I bought this QPV....

I'm couldn't agree more with this thread. I'm also on a mission to shape up my 2005 QPV. Over the past few months had new clutch, x-pipe and have scheduled to have my headlining done. Definitely worth a lot more than the market prices.
Agreed. I just need someone to follow me now after my final exhaust mods to tell me whether it is just f@@king loud or caterclysmic at 3000rpm. :worried1:

As many of you know, I’m an idiot, and i thought that buying a 2005 QP was a good idea. It’s the ex-Arfa car (hello mate) that is known to many members for a long time. It was a bargain and is far, far from being a fixer upper. I’ve already had the interior restored and set about several small items such as the heated seat switch. Next job is to sort some paint as it’s not exactly the same colour here and there but not too bad. It’s been fully serviced, new battery and is now being used daily. So much car for the money.

I blame lockdown for me having the determination to make the car 100% again.

It’s got a massive history file, recent clutch at Marios’s and had had it’s subframe rustproofed for a few years now, recoated at service just last month. X-pipe to come soon to compliment the Larini cats and hollow back boxes.

These cars are really far cheaper than they should be.
Nice to see you are restoring it rather than letting these die away

Doesn't it look just beautiful !
Congratulations Outrun.
Enjoy.
And big thanks from me for keeping it nice and tidy rather than just driving it until it falls apart.
These cars are to be loved.

Those colours are rather nice... shows every speck of dirt so you know when to wash it ... ;-)

Cleans up well after a lot of elbow grease but now shows paint mismatch after a few repairs such as for stone chips to the rear arches. I’m going to have both sides painted to sort this all out. It’s not that obvious, but I know so it has to be fixed !

So much car for the money. You had a bargain and really good reading the above. I’m not a fan of the colour but then it’s not mine and sounds like you are smitten. I recon you could have paid twice as much for one and it could have been in worse condition. Enjoy.

How much more do you want to drive up to The Savoy in that rather than, say a £50K Mercedes or similar. Glorious.

You wouldn't believe how much DuoSelect QP-V's are poo-poo'd here in North America. You're not kidding that early V's are a deal here and across the pond...
Having driven them all I'm amazed as a good we'll set up F1 Cambio Corsa box is one of the best gearboxes in my opinion.
You can't get a more beautiful big saloon than a QPV.

Latest update

The brakes squeal so badly and I’ve discovered it has EBC Yellowstuff front pads which is almost definitely the reason. They are aimed at track day buyers and are rubbish. Ferodo pads ordered using eurocarparts latest offer of 40% off. Hopefully this solves it.

Boot leaking when i jet was it. I assume its a bad seal, perhaps around the power cable on the near side which pushed down the rubber seal. Will investigate at the weekend.

Need to book it for paint and new rear quarter tridents as they face the wrong way.....

mine was original boot gasket & water was getting in where it squashes down after it was closed. New rubber gasket fixed it.

That'll be close to £50 a side from Eurospares or Meridien then....

The only cheaper ebay ones I could find were for the Levante / Ghibber / QPVI which are larger

Wow. That's bad.

Might they come off in one piece and can just be swapped over? Some bloke in the pub said they come off easiest with dental floss.
