I am a bit puzzled by the fact that the order was paid in front. And that refunding by the producing company is not possible, even if it is clear that the batch is not going to be produced at all.
Could you tell us the name of the Company?
Ingormation is in the thread

In my mind its inconclusive as that whats the issue or who is potentially at fault

Perhaps someone else may wish to do so and eleviate the need to trawl thru the 27 pages

As such I dont intend

Uh ok - I wasn't aware. I do recall something about it but not the full story.
Is he a bad 'un then?
I just want some discs and don't really want to get involved in politics - unless of course he is profiteering from our misfortune and selling the discs we ordered through MAF.

Read the closed thread where TTP tried to sell the discs. It got very harsh very quickly, not really sure why. Looks like it's Ferrari prices from now on. I was concerned about buying a product like important brake discs from a cheap supplier, I trusted the forum option and willing to listen and accept the advice on these pages. I just hope it wasn't personal to the guy because that is not fair

No not personal RSM, the disks he was punting about and is now have had 'issues' also there is no manufacturer warranty or PL insurance with them and should God forbid anything ever happen that caused an accident or death the proverbial would hit the fan. The forum disks have been provided through a UK supplier, motor factors and carry a full manufacture warranty and PL insurance etc. also they were at a non-profit price to forum members. This (3rd) batch has had a breakdown in the supply chain that is being resolved one way or another. Mark has put in and continues to put in a supreme effort in this.

For the record, I have NO quarrel with MAF at all; the way I hear it, he's done quite a lot for the Forum and more than his share on the rotors project. Frankly, I have no interest in getting my money back at all if MAF has to cough it up out of his own pocket (only speaking for myself, of course). I'd still love to get my rotors, but not at someone's else expense.

In the meantime, nice looking ventilated and drilled rotors are available from Formula Dynamics (expensive though at around $1,200 for a set) as well as RiCambi America (for twice as much). Further, it appears that Eurospares has them for less than either of these at around $1,000 for a set. Perhaps someone on the English side of the pond could chime in on price and availability from Eurospares or other sources available to you?

These prices are, of course, why everyone jumped in on the "group buy" in the first place!

I echo the above - I don't hold Maf personally responsible - it's a shame and rather annoying to have lost my money. But I do feel that there should be more visibility on the full story

I am sure MAF will be very pleased with your attitudes.

He put an incredible amount of work in and took nothing for himself.

I have remained quietly in the background generally over this (apart from the occasional unanswered PMs).
However:
If we are now being told we have lost our money, then at the very least it would be nice to have a full explanation. I appreciate the effort put in but I personally have not had any feedback to my PMs and feel we should ALL be told the whole story. How is it even remotely possible that the company who seem to have been paid, in advance (really?) have not been bought to book, or been publicly named. I still cannot understand why we are hearing bits and pieces but we deserve, at the very least, the whole episode. For my pert had I had an inkling that this ridiculous situation would have occurred I would have happily had Emblem get some discs from Eurospares at the higher price and not suffered the anxiety over MOTs and the like.
If there are issues to which we are not being made aware (maybe for legal reasons), again we as contributors of money should be told.

I really hate to say such things but I don't think I have ever been in this position and really don't feel that anyone should suffer financially.

I don't think it has been said by those involved with organising the group buy that the money is lost, more they are trying to get the money back.
It's not a few hundred quid though, must be over £10K?

My thought exactly.
The general feeling seems, latterly to be that it could be a loss of the money put forward.
Sure, it isn't necessarily lost, nor should it be; but my contention is that we are not being given full disclosure.
Someone, somewhere is sitting on well in excess of £10K. Questions do have to be asked.

I admit I'm surprised...
We failed to deliver the ordered dials - we lost more than a year. Sadly. It's hard...
I do not understand and I do not want to lose money ? How it's possible ? What did they do with them ?
Still no specific details ...

I don't think Maf should be allowed to be taking the responsibility for refunding the money personally, it was a forum buy, so the forum takes an equal responsibility, that said I cant afford to lose any amount of money at the moment, and can even less afford to pay the price a full set of discs is likely to cost from another source, luckily I'm not desperate for them, so I am prepared to wait until these hopefully materialise.

Unless the company that was paid to make the brakes has gone into liquidation, we should get the money back. But I'm somewhat surprised to hear that the whole sum was paid up front in advance.

No one likes to lose money, and hopefully it won't come to that, but if you can't afford to write off 3 or 400 pounds is a Maserati the right car?
