Sports Maserati X-Pipe fitted

So, after having only owned the car a few days and just joined the forum, I ordered an X-Pipe from someone who was, at that time, a complete stranger. A price of £200 was agreed and I said I was in no hurry as the car was running well and it was only a slight modification that could be done at any time.

I got notification that it had been made, I paid via bank transfer, the X-Pipe arrived next day courier and I was pleased. Only pleased at this point as I had paid for something and got it which was the least of my expectations.

Today I fitted it............and.........worth every penny. Stainless steel, clamps included and easy to fit. While it hasn't exactly increased the overall volume of noise the car makes that much. It has made the lower rev ranges throatier ( is throatier a word? ) and the higher rev ranges crisper. The sound from outside the car, after getting someone to drive it for me, has given it a better V8 sound and the interior is still quite enough that my wife never noticed the difference. So at this point I'm very pleased and would recommend getting one of these from this forum if you are even slightly thinking about it.

And to the forum, thank you. In particular BennyD for organising this for me and after the phone call I fully trusted with this transaction. The forum has turned out to be a bunch of true gentlemen who are only interested in helping other enthusiasts.

Welcome to the forum. I completely agree with you a great bunch of guys with a lot of experience and knowledge.....stand by for a deluge of comments and views on exhausts and the sound you can get.........next step is change back boxes and more if you are hard of hearing.

Really jealous :)
I wanted to sort the exhaust this month, but one of the dogs became diabetic, so that was an unexpected outlay!
Hopefully next month I'll see if I can get a set of autoshields back boxes, question is baffled or not ?
Enjoy your new toy !

Welcome Angelus!

Interesting to read you post as I've been considering an H-pipe - not taken the plunge yet through...

Paul, what exhaust spec are you running? If you are only changing the back boxes, go unbaffled. If you are thinking of going for an X-pipe as well, it depends on whether you want a bit more sound or a lot more. Personally, i would go X-pipe and unbaffled but if you have touchy neighbours, go X-pipe and baffled and it will be noticeably quieter. If you want a chat, pm me a contact number and I can help to talk you through it.

Angelus, so glad you like it! It's a pleasure turning members to the dark side and if you are thinking of going louder, give me a bell and I can give you the benefit of my experiences and help you get there! Have fun.

Thank you. I think back boxes are next, but I want to be ble to keep my originals to put back on should I need to. There is a possible road trip with my wife and teenage daughter in 15 months ( Lake Como has been mentioned ).

Had the X pipe and back boxes fitted over a month ago, great sounds, and silly grin at no extra cost.

I have I believe sport cats and I fitted an Autoshield back box. Well in truth there isn't anything there that looks like a box and I wasn't aware they came baffled or not so I will need to check with Marios.
However it is plenty loud enough for me. I have a high tolerance for noise as I have Italian bikes with exhausts but no silencers so I like to hear the music but the Autoshield system gives a nice deep bass note at low revs and changes up the rev range and I have to say I prefer it to the noise from likes of the Larini but we are all different.

At that price as well I couldn't say no to it either!
