Just seen this Matt very sad as despite the fact I am too far away to use you there was nothing but praise on the forum for your establishment. We need good independents and it’s a loss when one is lost.

So sorry to hear this, such good people from everyone that has told me how great you are. I would no doubt become a customer one day! This changes Maserati ownership in our area, for the worse. Good luck with getting over it... I was made redundant from a job I had for 27 years a couple of years ago, it took months to get over it, I imagine its a similar feeling. I wish you luck, whatever you choose to do, hope you can get going somewhere else soon!

This may be a non-starter depending on what you have squirrelled away in pensions. I combined all of mine into a SIPP and used it to buy a commercial property through my pension fund. I then set up a separate legal entity called Gray's Auto Services Limited which leases the commercial property from my landlord....which happens to be my pension fund. So as I only had (effectively) myself to negotiate the lease with, I approved it for motor trade use...

So my personal pension fund owns my commercial property and my limited company leases it back (effectively) from myself and pays a monthly lease back into my pension fund...meanwhile my limited company earns me and my team a living until I get to an age when I'm ready to retire and sell the commercial property...

Hopefully I've described this properly, but if you need more information @conaero please don't hesitate to PM me.

By the way, it is possible for multiple people to combine pensions into one pot to do something like this but I don't know the detail as it wasn't necessary for me.

I am trying to do exactly that, not to start a motor repair facility, but just as investment within my pension to then let out. It transpires that freehold units for sale are like hens’ teeth

Think I'll have a spare bob or two now...agree with the Leasehold nonsense, some newer properties effectively have double council tax, one to the Council for usual services, the second to the property developer for errr....nothing.

So sorry to read this I haven't been on for a while and today I drove to sports Italia to pick some brains and to book the car in for a few improvement's. First thing I noticed was lack of cars and signs gone. Came home and checked web site and on here. What a great shame for Matt and the boys I had found a trusted garage which in itself is was a godsend. I hope you have all the luck and help you can muster to get back in business as soon as possible. So many people and there cars will be waiting with baited breath for the announcement about when and where to take there pride and joy. .

How far would folk travel for a good Maserati specialist? @conaero, we're desperate for qualified mechanics up here in the Highlands, so come up and join us. We have at least one Maserati here in the village of Kingussie that comes in to us, but room for more

Totally gobsmacked mate , seriously gutted for you Ash and the team, I know personally how hard it is to terminate good hard working people through no fault of their own , but it certainly brings to the surface the measure of the man , Your one of lifes survivors Matty and you will win through , even with a screwed liver I can feel it in my water . Take stock and make the right choice for you and the family mate .
