Start up rattle on 4200 - With sound

Just realised I never concluded this thread.

As mentioned elsewhere, the noise appeared to be a weak hydraulic tensioner that was bleeding out pressure, causing a slack chain on start-up.
I replaced all the chains, tensioners, guides and fixed the front cover leak with a new gasket and crank seal as well. All seems good now. I do have a slight noise if left for a month or so without running but that is only a second or two, not what is heard on the video clip I attached earlier in the thread.

Some pics for interest:

Hello,

So you think that a lot of the noise was from the hydrauilcs tensioners ?

Thks !!!!

Hi, Yes one of the tensioners (the one at the top of the engine) wasn't remaining pushed out, the tensioner in the side was though. This meant the chain was slack until oil pressure built to extend it and re tension the chain.

Hello,

I also have time to time some rattle during cold startup. I suspected as well the chain tensioners. How to test them?

Thank you

Hello.

I have changed my Hydraulic Tensioners 180316 directly
100eur in total is not very expensive after 146.000 kms
Now I have less noise on cold start but I have to continue investigating
My next step..... Oil acumulator.....
Oil pressure check valve (left and right cylinder head) ref 184681.... Etc etc.....
Can someone explain to me how pre-lubrication before starting the engine really works ?

Is there a solenoid valve that opens and releases previously pressurized oil ?

Thanks
